AutoX tires for mod CRX
We've got a rather different CRX that we're going to try autocrossing this year, wondering if anyone knows what tire & setups the competitive CRX/Civic guys are running. Tried searching and came up with some decent hits, but nothing definitive. We're also considering doing a couple of hill climbs this year with the car, and perhaps a few lapping days, so road race advice would also help.
The main problem is that the motor is quite a bit more powerful then you're average autocrossing CRX, but it also weighs quite a bit less (1780 lbs) last time we checked.
I've heard a lot of stuff from 13x8s, 13x9s. I think we want to go with the Hoosiers from what I'm hearding. Perhaps 20.0 X 9.0-13 front and 20.0 X 8.0-13 rear.
It wasn't really designed for autocross, so we're probably going to be in an effed up class (Modified E I think in SCCA, Mod B in the WWSCC), but should be fun/interesting anyway. Actually I think we may do better then I'm thinking. The car is nicely engineered, have H&R race coil overs for the suspension, etc.
Thanks,
-k

In Mod you won't stand a chance unless your running 20 X 9.5 X 13 Goodyear 807-685-068 or Hoosier 43190. Choose a softer compound for Solo like R210 and they will be great for cool days on the track.

8's and 9's are great for CSP, but your not in that class. E prepared allowes a 7" width and full slicks, but it sounds like you might be beyond EP as well

Yeah I talked to Tom about a year ago, and couldn't remember if he said 9's or 9.5's or what.
Tom is funny... I'd like to meet him someday, he seems like a mean older guy (I've heard people describe him as 'grouchy') which I actually think is pretty funny.
