Default Easiest way to drop H22 in?

Getting ready to mount up the H22. I've taken off the TB so I don't crush my TPS sensor. I know I have to angle the motor to make the tranny clear on the pass. side of the frame. I was wondering if its easier to leave all the mounts off the engine when lowering it in and bolt them up to the motor/tranny once everything is close to the right position, or should I put all the mounts on before hard and just leave them loose so I can fiddle with the position. It seems like the rear bracket would be a major pain to install to the motor once its lowered into the engine bay. Any tips for dropping the motor in would be greatly appreciated. . .

Having an adjustable leveler really makes it easy to install. Keep in mind, you have to get your transmission motor mount in first on the passenger side, then after its in place go ahead and install the others. When getting the first mount in, its a good idea to have the motor cockeyed, transmission side down more then the cam gear side. Another little trick i recently adopted that allows for more clearance is not installing the crank pulley until the motor is installed. It allows for about 2-3 inches more of clearance, and you dont have to worry about chipping your crank pulley. Here is a little eye candy:

Unfortunatley, I dont have the tools or manpower to remove or install the crank pulley. I think with two friends and a good amount of the universal lubricant (beer) we can stuff her in there. Satan said he installed the rear bracket with the motor in the car, did any one else go this route? I'm scared I'll drop it in, then won't be able to manuever the bracket back in there, and have to start all over again. Is it going to be a big pain to install the motor with the rear bracket in place (but loose so that is wiggles)? Not expecting too much assistance on a saturday night, but every little bit helps. . .

when i put mine it, i just bolted up the 2 side mounts to secure it in, then i put in the rear mount, and finally the front mount. i took the radiator out, which helps A LOT, but when i put it in, i had the crank pulley, AC, PS, alternator, and even the turbo and manifold on.... the only thing i took off was the upper half of my intake manifold, the H22A4 has secondaries and allows you to do this, i am not sure about the H22A1

Ahhhh yes, I can see how it would be MUCH easier with the TB off (mine is so I dont break my TPS).

I did it the hard way from the top with everything on... It still wasn't that bad just make sure you get the tranny side down first, and watch the tps sensor if you leave the throttle body on like already mentioned. Good luck, Here's some pic from when I did mine.

When we did mine we had limited space so we went in from the top. We kept the rear mount and the driver's side mount on and put the rest of the mounts on once we got the motor angled in right. What we did was push the tranny side of motor w/ a mount attached on non tranny side under it's current location to get the tranny positioned properly so it would fit and then slowly let up on the tranny side of the engine and then mount that we left on slid right in place from the top. Hope this wasn't too late!!! I'm 99% sure this is how we did it, but then again I have a terrible memory...

I slid the rear mount in from the bottom...I just had to try to do it a few different ways...

I should add that I didn't have the support bracket that attaches to the back/bottom of the Intake manifold....I'm not sure if that helped or not...

Take the FRONT mount and the TRANNY mount off, it will be a PIECE OF CAKE to install after you align and bolt up the rear and side mounts. piece of cake i tell ya. make sure you angle it out like mentioned above, im surprised no one has suggested doing it this way yet!

PS. Make sure u label all the connectors on the engine and on the car to speed up the install!!.

Dropped her in no problem. Took maybe an hour with only 2 people. we left all the mounts off except for the driver side, and then lowered the engine. we connected the tranny mount first, and then all the others. We put the rear bracket in last, from the top (TB was off). Easy as pie. . .thanks

Hey man, are you taking any pics of the process?? I want to do mine but I am unsure if me and my friends will be able to do it.

How was your dealings with Osaka Motors when you bought your engine???
