Default Bike security

I'm gonna be getting the bike soon and I'm looking into some security for it. It will be sitting in my garage.

I've heard good things about the Kryptonite Chain/Lock.. Mase also recommended a Xena Disc Lock.

Do you think a Disc Lock/Alarm and a Kryptonite Chain/Lock is pretty good? What models/brands do you recommend? Looking for fast replies to buy soon, so let me know! Thanks guys.

I think I'm confused.

The Kryptonite NY Chain with disc lock:

When they say 'disc lock', that's just what connects the chain?

But then there are actual 'disc locks' with alarms that attach to the bike? Does somebody understand the confusion?

I'm such a newbie..

yes, that style disc lock is just a U that hooks into the actual key lock. It locks the disc by itself and can also attach the chain. That's what I have, chain stays at home, lock stays w/ the bike. Only disc lock when I stop while I'm out and about, chained to the ground when it's home. There is also a different style looking krypto disc lock. It's slimmer profile designed specifically for locking rotors... and it pretty much only does that. About the alarm, not sure what you're asking. There are motion, proximity and ignition... same as cars... you could attach a motion/vibration piece to the disc lock but then it'd go off whenever yo try to unlock the bike?
