need help! power door locks arent getting enough power.
I tried installing my power door locks today, but the alarm isnt giving them enough power to lock/unlock properly. But when i connect them manually to the power supply(the main power supply from the battery) it opens up and closes REALLY fast and perfect. So i'm thinking i need some relays etc... anyone know exactly how to do this??? Its the basic (+) (-) Lock (-) (+) unlock. Thanks!
yep, aftermarket accuators require the use of relays. you will need to find 2 SPST standard bosch relays. you will ground both 87A poles on the relay. next get a fused 12v constant power source and hook to both the 86 and the 87 poles on both the relays. pole 85 on the relay must be hooked to your negative output of the alarm ie green - lock, blue -unlock. green to one relay and blue to the other. the remaining pole (30) you will hook up the wires from your accuators. make sure the green from the motor goes to the same relay that has the green wire from the alarm. once you get it all hooked up test the alarm. if it is backwards, just switch the wires from the accuator to the relays. good luck with it. let me know if you need any more help.
