// please I need help....thanks to all

Hey, I'm tryin to install my new deck that I bought today, but I ran into a few problems with the wire harness. First the deck I took out was a concorde that came with my civic when I bought it...heres a pic

The civic's wireharness was rigged for that deck so I cut off the connectors, and this is how it looks now:

The sales person also sold me 2 metra WH...AIWA 16 PIN RADIO TO UNIVERSAL
http://flawlesspearl.tripod.com/wireharness.jpg

and 86-98( i think ) Honda WH, which connects to the AIWA WH. Well...seeing how I can't connect the civic's WH to the metra WH, i cut off the other side of the WH and it looks like this now:

Ok...can I just splice the the civic's WH directly to the cut metra WH? Or what would be the best way to hook up my new deck? Hope I made sense....

I guess the first thing I'll say is never cut the factory harness if it can possibly be avoided (get an adaptor made for your car).

Second.... what in gods name is a concorde head unit (i'm guessing an aiwa based on the inferences to aiwa universal harnesses... the only concorde's I can think of are the car and the plane)

To answer your question, yes just splice the two together (providing that one end actually plugs into the deck). Keep in mind that you now have to figure out what all the wires are (car and deck). If it was me, I would re-connect the factory harness (solder it on, don't get lazy with butt connectors) so that when I wanted a new deck, all I would need is a new adaptor harness.

good luck

Well, I spliced the wires together and couldn't get the unit to work...so I took it back to Circuit City and they tested the civic's harness and it was barely getting an voltage through so thats why my unit won't work. They also said the harness was probably fried, and that it would cost me extra to run new wires to get my deck to work. I said "No thankyou." Ok...how would I go about...running these new wires, or should I just leave it to the pros? I've ran, installed and troubleshooted wires before...just that it was in the I.T. field and not cars, so I assume those skills would come in handy. Really need help!! Thanks.

Ok...never mind I got it to work, after reading a post called "Reverse Wiring..." it said something about if the "dome light is still working..." something about a fuse. Well, this morning, I checked the fuse underneath the drivers side and lo and behold...the fuse to the deck, clock, and dome light was fried. Went and got some new fuses, plugged it in and whatayano...it works!! Stupid Circuit City...spent an hour and half there waiting and they couldn't even figuire it out...and stupid me for not even considering the fuse. All I can say is "Wow, you guys know ur stuff!" Ok...now that I got it working, just wondering what kind of AMP to get. I don't know much about this, so help me out. All I got so far is an AIWA CDC-X227 deck, a pair of JL XR525-CX from my bro...when theives jacked his car and took his deck and amp but left the speakers( why? Oh well... ). I'm just looking to make my car thump a bit and sound a bit better, not competition quality.
The most I'm lookin to spend on an AMP and woofer combine is $250-300. Also if anyone can explain how to match amps with speakers and decks...etc, then I'd appreciate that much.
Thanks

I look at it in general like this..... try and match the recommended power for the sub with the rms power of the amp. Matching to the deck doesn't really matter. Some combinations are (or used to be) finneky. So long as you have at least one set of RCA's on the deck you're fine. When wiring ... power wire goes on one side of the car, rca's on the other (seperate them), ground wire should be as short as possible, scrape the paint off for the ground, fuse power wire within ~16" of battery.

pricing:
unless you get it used or at a badass discount, I can't see getting much more than a two channel amp and a decent sub (or wouldn't advise on trying to get much more than that). Why a two channel..... you can get em for cheaper and bridge the channels then later if you want more boom you move the two channel to the fronts and get new sub and amp for sub. In short you can build off it.

my personal opinion...spend more on the amp then you do on the sub, you'll be happier in the long run
