Darton Sleeves - Best Price?
Looking for best price on a Darton closed deck sleeve "kit" for B18C1.
Best I've found is from a local shop - $500 out the door.
Can I beat this online?
Thanks!
Ben

when i say "kit", i mean everything necessary for the sleeving.
you are correct - the block will need to be bored to fit the sleeves. i think the "kit" includes the sealer/book/etc

That's just materials... who's doing the install?
I'd just send the block to Darton, or Eds Brothers in SC.

Benny Z, was that a special they were having on the sleeves or is that the normal price? From what i've seen anything under 500 bucks is a good deal, do you know if these were in stock and have you gotten them yet? If you haven't gotten a machine shop yet, i highly recommend Edge Bros. I've seen alot of the blocks that they've done and they look great. If you call them, talk to Earl, he is a good guy and will tell you the truth whether he makes money off of you or not. PM me if you want some more info about them.
On somehting like the darton sleeves I wouldn't look for the cheapest spot to get my sleeves done. Even if though they use the same sleeves, not all machine shops are equal. It's worth it to pay more and have an experienced machine shop familiar with hondas to do the work.
So how much do places usually charge to install Darton sleeves? I'm going to have to get a block resleeved in a couple months and I have to figure out how much it's going to run. Also, where's a good place to buy Darton sleeves from that sells them for a reasonable price. Thanks.

as far as i can tell, this is the story
darton has been sued for the design of their "pro sleeves" because it's similar to another company's design
darton has redesigned a new sleeve system and is getting rid of the remaining "old style" pro sleeves (which are still tried and true)
you can pick up the sleeves directly from darton for $420 + shipping (about $18)
hope this helps!
i'm not going to decide on any machine shops until i've got the pistons and rods to have them put in at the same time - but it will be going to a reputable experienced machine shop familiar with sleeving honda engines

i was also quoted $420 from darton......anyone know how long this is going to last, i dont want to miss this price then not have a group buy going on either and totally **** myself
**** this sounds good!! so if its $420 for the sleeves.. then what if i sent in my block to darton and had them do it, what would the total look like ?
You mean Edge Bros. in NC, right? They were the shop that Darton recommended for the east coast.
I was going to have them do my install, but they were more expensive than Darton, w/ a longer wait time..... so off to the west coast my block went. It stayed there about a week and then I got it back. I was very happy w/ the darton work

the $420 price is good through the end of the year...
...then they start selling the "new" design sleeves...for $699.
i'm glad i was able to jump on this while i could!

Yeah they are pretty expensive, but they are located in the same city as me. They also said it would only take like 7-10 days total for me, because i don't have to worry about shipping. I didn't want to go with them at first because of their prices, but after i figured in shipping elsewhere it would be close.
Here is a sleeve set I am thinking about marketing. They are made from the same material as Darton. The price would be $295. No instructions will come with it. It would be for a machine shop that knows what it is doing.
I'm also thinking of selling a kit. It would have 84mm JE Pistons and rings, Manley rods and the sleeves. Priced at about $1350...any interest?
