What would you do with an extra $2500
Im getting a small settlement from a underinsured motorist claim. Its about $2k - $3k. I drive a 94 Delsol Si. Im not sure what to do with the money. I have been thinking about getting a bigger car, but I dont know what I can sell my delsol for. It has some been developing problems lately, and I would need to fix them before I sell it. I also want to get into SCCA/autocross racing.
What would you do with the extra money?

In MY opinion I'd do neither.
But for YOUR car and YOUR money, do what you think is best. If you feel you need a bigger car, buy a bigger car. It's all on you.

personally I would get a hatch, then fix up the other one and sell it but that is just me.you could get a good price for the sol and be able to fix up the hatch.
Since you wanna do autocross, do this...
Sell the Sol, get either a cheaper EG or a CRX, use the money for a bseries swap, use whatever money you have left over to do some basic bolt ons (I/H/E) then strip it down to nothing, leave one seat and the dash, save a little money and get yourself some light weight 15's or 16's (id probobly go with a set of Advan's or Spoon rims) Then take her out to the cones and win some time trials...
Thats just what id do though, its all up to you in the end, you just wont find yourself in the company of many Del Sols in the autocross world because of that nice targa top...just FYI...but anyhoo, do what you want, its your money.

If you really want to autocross then use that money to buy a CRX, keep it stock so you don't get killed timewise, and upgrade the CRX within the confines of the stock rules. Shocks, springs that don't affect ride height, race tires, and a catback. I think that pretty much sums it up.
Keep the sol for a daily driver. Rolling your daily driver at an event would suck...

Buy a CRX. Especially if you want to autocross. A CRX is a great handling car with good power, but, since you are new to autocrossing you are goign to most probably be in the stock class where engine swaps are not allowed.

holy ****, beandip was my nickname from second grade thru 12th grade. then i went to a rave with a chef hat (i was a chef) and got nicknamed chef...i've just used that name as my nick since. crazy.
im not sure but didnt the si del sol come with a b16. if so id pull the motor and buy a hatch with your $2k-$3k put the b16 motor in the hatch. then sell the original motor and the del sol shell and try to get my hands on i/h/e and lowering. thats what id TRY to do. its alot of steps. but **** it.
Go to the bank and ask for it all in one dollar bills. Go to Target/Walmart(nearest store like that) and buy a plastic pool. Fill the pool with the dollar bills and jump in. Spend the rest of the day pretending you are the rich old guy on Duck Tales.
damn, I wish 2500 was enough for a house downpayment. (not around here anyway)
If you want to autocross, why not use some of the money to fix up the delsol and start racing it? (you would not have to spend all of it, since major mods would screw you up class wise.)

I think the essentials, springs, shocks, sway bars, and stiffen up the chassis a bit...then rims and tires, and you'll have a decent daily drivable autocrosser
in my situation id fix up the sol and give the remainder to the wife..she ll turn around and invest it and in a few yrs i we can get another house
