ekb18c...curious...do you work out of RPM...anyway, y would you go with the p13 if it has the limiter on it, while you can go with the p28 and get a hondata pogram to fully get all the potential from the h22?

....yes use a P13 like a few people have mentioned.

Not only is it designed for a H22/H23 vtec engine, but as addive info, a customer of mine dynoed a stock GSR/P72 ecu vs P13 on his prelude engine, the P13 did a lot better.

I had EG with h22.
Ran it with ALL three ECU's.

Stock p72 ran better than stock p13
Chipped p28 ran better than chipped p72

Dont ask me, dyno doesn't lie.
All runs were made on same day using all ECU's.

Heh... so did I, and I ran all 3 to try them out. Stock P72 and P13 felt similar, but the Spoon P13 felt much stronger and pulled harder in VTEC. IMO, the Mugen P28 pulled the same in VTEC as the Spoon P13, but below that 5700 rpm VTEC x-over, the car felt like it had no torque. The P13 (and P72 for that matter) gives the H22 more power in the mid-range rpms. Also, with the Mugen P28 in the car, the car idled very low (almost dying) while the P13 and P72 idled just fine.

Best ECU proggy to run on a H22 (that I ran for awhile), is a P28 ECU with a Hondata, using the Prelude Type S fuel maps and specs (unless somebody found away to burn that program into a stand-alone chip, you're going to have to use Hondata to run like that).

BS - Why don't you tell us HOW the P28 opened the secondaries.....

OH, maybe you forgot to mention something..........

For a STOCK SETUP use the P13 as mentioned before.

man Whatare ya new the IAB's are always open the ecu closes them then lets them open at the specified rpm's
Really, so they're open all the time????

I guess that's why people loose 20+ HP on GSR's by using the P28, cuz they're open all the time.....

why the big fuss for the IAB's..... tis' simple .. all it is the ecu provides current to a selnoid until the "AIB" selected rpm then it cuts voltage which opens teh runners.... you could do the same with an rpm switch and and a relay .. seriously... it's easy and adjustable for your peek torque....

i swear this is the most exagerated and freaked out questions about the p-28... it's only secondary's ... gesh...

people worry for anything...

EXACTLY!!!

You guys DON'T tell the whole story.

All that was said is "A P28 WORKS FINE FOR A H22A"....

Nothing about using a relay, or MSD RPM switch, etc.....

NOW do you understand WHY I make a fuss about it????

If you're going to make a recommendation to a NEWB or someone who obviously doesn't know what to do, tell them the WHOLE story, and then let them make a decision.

NO,NO,NO ....................I am running the mugen p28 W/iab's open all the time
And what did you do to disconnect them....

See, this is why I get upset at you guys, you always make an arguement, but seem to leave out details of what you did....

I know for a FACT that a GSR engine, using the STOCK intake manifold, and a chipped P28 will LOSE horsepower & torque.

Who cares if you get it back at 9000 RPM, is that where you are all the time? NO!

It's the power UNDER the curve that makes the difference, not PEAK power.....

you can use a reprogrammed P28 (which many people that I reprogrammed for preferred - no secondaries however) or a reprogrammed P72 which will control IABs ... I can do both if you'd like PM me...

Default This thread is getting recockulous now...

please stop the frikkin bikkerin' about some ******* 2ndary buttterlies, you guys sound like lil' bitches.

You don't lose that much power when using a single-buttefly programmed ecu, its only about 10ftlbs of torque you lose, but if you UP the vtec crossover point, it seems you don't lose any of that power. A mugen P28 on either a GSR or H22 w/stock dual butterfly manifolds, with the right vtec crossover point, WILL work and make power on either engine.

If people are so uptight about dual butterflies on their H22, why not get a ******* Euro-R manifold and shut the hell up already? And for GSR/P72 heads a skunk2 manifold??

It's not hard to the fix the dual butterfly issue on either engines, you cry babies.

what katman said is exactly what we did to our setups (b18c-h22a) the car both pull way harder in vtec and i can tell no difference out of vtec (*** dyno or time slips up to the 1/8) but you have to get the crossover right

Ok, fine.....

I'm done arguing about this ****, so ******* stupid.

So, let's get back on the TRACK of the original question.

is this any good for a stock setup or would i just be better off with a p13???
NO, this is NOT good for a STOCK setup. You'd be better off using a P13.
