Stock cd player+amp in G5
I want to add an small amp and a sub to my stock cd player on my 97 lude. However, the shop that I was going to go to said that if I add an amp I will get high pitched distortion because of some sort of "optional feed back system" that the G5's have. So, my question is, has anyone had experience with this? Is this person correct? First hand experience would be great, so if you have done this let me know if I should attemp this. Thanks
Search arround there are some write ups on PO.com as well. The person you spoke to is right and its pretty easy to bypass.

What the are talking about is the Acoustic Feedback system. The rear 6x9's have little mics on them that pick up any distortion the 6x9's make and adjust the volume accordingly. You should be fine using a high level-to-low level adaptor to feed the RCA inputs into your amp (tag the speaker lines before the Acoustic feedback box, not the lines between the AFS box and the speakers)... or, if noise still does show up, just snip the lines going to the mics. Best bet is to just bypass the AFS system and throw a set of aftermarket 6x9's in the rear... you can run them right off the lines comming from the radio. The AFS 6x9's are 2 ohms, so you can't just bypass the AFS amp and run the stock 6x9's off the stock radio, you'll burn it up.
Hope that was of some help!
