Turn signal/headlight switch control stalk

Not exactly security or audio, but since there's electric experts here, I figure I'll post here.
I have a 5G (1992-1995) Civic. For the past year, I've had occasional problems with the left control stalk. Sometimes, the rotary switch (headlights) seems stiff and difficult when turning the headlights on. Sometimes, the switch doesn't even want to rotate. I let the car warm up and gently wiggle the switch into position.
The headlight usually turn on, but sometimes, ONLY the headlights turn on. All instrument lights and parking and taillights are OFF. When I jiggle the switch (turn the switch towards the parking light position without clicking into the position) the interior/parking/taillights go on. Or sometimes the headlight turn off but the parking/instrument/taillights stay on, even though the switch is in the headlight ON position.
The other problem is the high beam. When I pull the stalk back, it clicks and the high beams stay on. Now occasionally, the high beams won't click on. That is, I pull the switch towards me, but it doesn't click, and when I let go of the stalk, the high beams ARE NOT on.
I don't know if temperature plays a part, but it seems to happen mostly in the cold.
Has anyone ever replaced a control stalk or had problems with one? I could not find interior diagrams of the control stalk (internal diagrams showing how the control stalk works).
