First Mod
well, weight reduction if you can. Thats free and makes all aspects of your cars performance better.
Lightweight Rims and good tires are always a good bet, better braking, handling, and acceleration.
Driving School, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so even if you have all the top of the line parts, if you cant drive, it will still be a slow car, or at least not as fast as it could be.
Or you could just get a cat-back exhaust, those usually get you about 5-8 hp.
Or if you plan to swap motors eventually, do the suspension first, so you dont pay for parts you cant use later on.
Good luck, and its good to see you are into performance instead of DuBz and BoDy KiTz yO!!!

Yeah my friends are all into show and no go. I don't even want a system when I get a car because it will just slow it down. They all think I'm on crack. NO body kit will be on my car or any wheels over 16's. I got some big plans but like anything worthwhile, it will take some time and effort.
Good to see you have the right (in my mind anyway) attitude about cars. Systems are cool and all, but they really do reduce performance, a couple of subs, a box and an amo can weigh up to 50 lbs.
What kind of plans do you have in mind?? Swap?? Turbo SOHC?? All motor??
Most of the mods depend on what you plan on doing. But rims and tires, and suspension stuff is universal, you can use it no matter what you do to the engine (within reason of course)
Good Luck!!

this is my kind of newbie.
keep it up yo! read all this gooey info here at h-t.
I should have the car in a few months if not sooner. Haven't found one that is exactly what I want. I'm planning on going all motor at least for the time being. I'm heading to college soon so money is going to be scarce. By b-day and next Christmas, I should have at least i/h/and custom exhaust by someone in town, and plugs and wires. Next will be conservative lowering springs(maybe 1.5"). Then it will prob. be sway bar mounts for front and rear. Various things like a short shifter could be in there too but I am really excited about the future. Eventually the turbo will come a ways down the road but I will refuse to use nos because of the horror stories I've heard.
