when you put them in, are they attaching to anything under the hood, and if so, what? Since my car got broken into and they took stuff from under my hood I figure some hood locks would be a good investment.

you talking about hood locks or hood pins? If your talking hood locks, my suggestion is to simply get a pin switch for your hood and a good alarm. I have the hood locks in my car and first off they are made to fit good on a hood thats perfectly level much like a domestic hood. Our hoods however are not level, they have a slight slant, trying to line them up and getting it right is a huge pain in the ***! they are also not even made of steel, its some composite metal, mines broke and we tried welding it, damn thing melted! if you look at the locks their so weak, that if anyone really wanted to get at your engine a crowbar is gona be simple enough to take car of that task, what i would do if i was you, is to simply get a good alarm.
