What is the top speed (stock) of the S2000?

I went 158 mph with the top up......
All motor All stock.........
I really dont recommend going that fast thought........
You deffinitly need a long strech of road to do it........

On interstate 70 between on the way back from St. Louis when my friend bought his we did 158 downhill top down between 2 semi's. Scary ****. I'll never do it again. BTW, yes, same guy that blew up 3 motors.
Top speed in a S2000 completely stock is 164 mph GPS tested by myself, the fastest I have ever gotten the car to go with the top down is 154 again GPS and I had a very long stretch of road to test absolute top.
The gearing will only allow for the car to go to about 168 as far as I know, but as I understand it you hit the aero wall and gearing wall at the same time. I believe that you can get a higher recording using the stock speedo then 164 but I would attribute it to calibration then to differences inbetween cars.
Now having said that said that no matter how much power you put into the car you still have the same top speed you simply get there a lot faster, as above 140 the car starts to slow down quite a bit specifically with the top down. But if you were able to squeeze a bit more rpm out of the moter then who knows what is possible. Really I don't want to find out, the car has amazing stability above 130 but man you don't want to be doing it in a crowded place.

turbodave - 170+
edit: you've obviously never read/seen any of the posts by people with forced induction on s2ki.

And you did not read the part about the GPS testing. I have never seen anybody post other then myself on how they came to that speed. I personally have seen 169 on the speedo on my stock car but I do not say that is the top speed as it simply was not so when we calculated it using the distance with the GPS.
Mathmatically I understand the top speed to be 164-165 as far as gearing goes.
Two as I understand it Wes has the 4.44 gears he sure as heck is not getting anywhere close to 160, unless he did this prior to installing them

the car will only be able to go so fast on the stock motor. once you upgrade (forced induction being the highest form), you can go faster than you could before.
wes does own a 4.44 final gear, but it's not installed right now.
all i'm saying is that the part i quoted from you above is very wrong...so i obviously did read your post correctly
(again)
Not that I want to continue to argue but define faster. If it is reference to top speed then no mater how much power you have you will never be able to go faster IE top speed then a stock car. Unlike most cars S2000's are not computer or drag limited, they can run to the end of the gearing. Since this is not changed with the increase in power the car simply can not have a faster top speed.
But I digress, if you mean faster as in acceleration then yes more power will make you go faster Dduhhh.

i mean faster as in top speed.
i talked to wes before i posted last, and he told me i was right. i wouldn't just throw stuff i didn't know about in your face.
do you understand what i'm talking about when i say that the stock s2000 can only go 155 +/- (a few), and a s2000 with forced induction can go upwards of 170?

If a car is drag limited, power output WILL change it's top speed. Once the car has the extra power needed to "break" through the aerodynamic wall, it will. top speed is an equation of power, drag coefficient (wind resistance), gearing, and resistance (tires resistance on the ground do not go into a drag coefficient). Change one factor and top speed changes.
If a car is redline limited, the top speed will not change no matter how much power you add UNLESS the power is added by raising the redline (along w/ headwork/cams, etc.) In order to increase top speed of a redline limited vehicle, you must change the gearing (top gear ratio, final drive, or tire size) OR a raised redline (not too common on a 9000rpm S2000).

he said that the car won't get a higher speed no matter what you do. the car stock, can only get to 155 (8,000 rpm) in sixth gear. the car can go faster than that. i didn't ever say that the car stock can hit the redline in sixth gear, 'cause it can't.
