Default autocross on a budget (EF HATCH)

thinking about getting back into this.... I just picked up a bone stock low mileage '90 SI, and a set of BFG R1s 205/55/14s. I have a line on some Integra front and rear disc brakes, and I'd like to do a complete urethane bushing set on it before anything else. I hope this is not a redundant question, but what is a good all around suspension setup for this car that wont break the bank? I could probably afford around $5-600 (not counting the brakes or bushings)

simple answer.....buy some koni's and that's it...run the thing in HS...your only expense will be tires....that's autoX on a budget...or build it to STS spec and not have to buy more than one set of tires a season...but that'll require a higher initial investment.

forget the brakes, forget the bushings. run it in HS (like the other guy said). buy some good brake pads and possibly the Konis (this would not a be a super-tight budget). use the rest of the $ for entry fees, or just save it. don't just start modding the car until you feel you're ready for it. the $ spent on mods won't increase your time nearly as much as seat time, so use the $ for seat time. a $600 suspension setup isn't going to impress anyone when you're running near the back of the pack. if you want to research suspension setups, check my signature.

comming form the same boat (ef hatch and lo-buck) u should either keep it stock and run in HS which is a fun class, or set it up for sts. that is a killer car in either car (save the mini in hs) so u culd be compettive either way. good luck.

I agree. HS to start.

In HS, you can:
use R compounds on stock size wheels (Toyo RA-1 will last most of a year)
change the shocks (that are stock configuration, like Koni Sports)
change the front sway bar (but don't on the Civic)
use a K&N drop-in replacement (but not a cone)
use any spark plugs and wires
use any catback (must leave emmissions 100% intact)

There are a few more things, but those are the biggies.
