WelTiming belt cover/camshaft install
While removing my cams, I got really lazy and just cut the timing belt cover, where it arcs over the cams...
But then I found this picture, where it doesnt have those arcs over the cams
-not my picture
This picture doesnt even have the cover on...I want to keep the cover, can I just shave off the arcs?
edit- I have no idea why the title has the WEL in it

It will be fine if you cut the rear timing cover up. A little ghetto for my taste, but it won't cause any problems that I can forsee.

yeah, all that plastic fits fine... well with my gears it did. Can't see anything by looking at the motor... just "stock" cams and gears
Cool, yeah I couldn't tell from the pic. I did the same thing when I had to re-torque my head studs and got to the cams and was like F$#@ this. I took a pair of Dykes and cut a slit in the arch to pull the cams through. When I went to put them back in, half the arch snapped off........when I started the car up and the leftover arch was slightly rubbing the back of the cam pulleys and making the most annoying noise.....it has settled down probably due to the plastic wearing off, but I need to get in there and cut the rest off.
There shouldn't be a concern about aftermarket pulleys fitting.

The answer is that ONLY on the b18s does the rear timing belt cover have the 'arc' that goes over the cams.. on the B16's there isn't, thats why in the pic, it doesn't show it.
