Fellow JDM Junkies: for your next vacation, have you considered....JAPAN?
Can't use it for Tokyo Auto Salon, but it is a great deal
As low as $699 roundtrip from LA/SF/Vancouver. Chicago/NY is only $729(!) Even cheaper from Hawaii (ATTN: REID)
Includes 4 nights hotel in Tokyo. Eat curry rice and MOS Burger, you wont spend more than $20-30 a day for food.

Don't blame me - blame Japan Airlines...I wuz just checkin my frequent flyer miles
BTW, JAL is one of the top airlines IMO. Best Economy Class in the biz, at least to Asia. Great food, great service, new planes. New MAGIC In-flight entertainment system has 10 movies to choose from

JAL is the ****, but I doubt people will spend only 20 bucks on food a day. A nice bowl of ramen in tokyo is like six bucks US and that doesn't equal a meal.
But for all the H-T ers Japan is the place. Cigarettes and Beer are dispensed in vending machines!!!
try all of the fruit drinks in the machines. Peach is my fave, and the Kirin milk tea!!!!

I can eat in JPN for under USD30 a day, and I eat A LOT
BTW, Asahi Wonda ice coffee in the little cans and fresh baked shoku-pan bread with some Hokkaido full-cream butter is to die for

ha ha ha.
That is what I told my GF that I wanted for christmas...a trip to Japan...don't think that I am going to get it though. Plus I would have to find a way to survive in the crate filled with my stuff as I probably would spend all my money on JDM goodness and forget I need money to get home.

Damn that is a deal, I just came back from Japan two weeks ago and paid 650 for round trip on JAL, no hotel stay!
Japan rocks... now I know why Shane is a JDM junkie.
I agree, Japan isn't really that expensive at all. No more expensive than if you live in CA or NY. I spend 5-6 dollars for each meal anyways. I spent 1700 total, including airfare, hotel stay, round trip on the bullet train to Kyoto (200 dollars in itself), food and lots of vending machines. Not bad for 10 days.
My gf and I don't know any Japanese and we got by fine. The people are super friendly.
I must post my pics soon...

I absolutely want to do this in the next couple of years. Too many other financial commitments now, but sometime...
TAS is mecca, though. I also relish the idea of meeting the illustrious Mr. Kengs for the first time in Japan. I couldn't think of a better tourguide

Wooo .. that is a nice deal!!! I have been to Japan many times. Always fun and worth it. At those prices, plus the current exchange rate and the fact that the Japanese economy is suffering from a case of deflation, your $ will go a lot further then in years past.

Hang out in roppongi. Go to "Gas Panic" club and partay too the break of dawn. then catch the 5:30 subway to your destination.
