What's the differnece on ESS and VSS?
I'm looking into swapping the GSR cluster into my 90 CRX Si and I'm not exactly sure what the difference is on the 2 sensor's...I know that one is electric and the other is cable but what exactly are the differences and how do they work?

Electronic Speed Sensor=Electronic signal through wires as suppose to cable to run your speedo . VSS, actually the same thing but mechanical VSS=just the opposit, runs by cable.
ok to do the GSR cluster swap do I have to get an adapter to hook into my tranny since I have to convert to ESS or is there something that I can use to splice into the VSS cable to hook up to the GSR cluster for the ESS?
You use the vss and remove your cable drive completely from the tranny. Just put in the VSS and wire it. Very common swap since the SiR cluster is tranny mount VSS controlled as well.
hmm i found this from the search.. i just pulled my VSS gear from my JDM ITR tranny.. and i found this. [IMG]http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr?i=wMzM0ODQ2czQxM2RmZDMxeTU0MQ%3D% 3D/IMG]
i was wondering if i could run with it broken.
