do I need a roll cage for EP clas??
E Production does require a roll cage. Get a copy of the GCR and you will find the section in it that covers your question. Make sure you use DOM tubing-the ERW type is no longer acceptable. If in doubt, contact Kirk Racing Products in Mt. Olive, Alabama-they do know what they are doing. Another thing-plan on a weld-in cage kit if you are fully converting the car as I did w/CRX. You also need to find a shop that can do the install if you do not have the tools and experience. I used a shop that build NHRA/IHRA and now SCCA chassis-price was very reasonable as he also does body work. Whatever cage you get you will need to have it with at least 8 mounting points andno more than 12 (plates on the floor and other pans/rulebook.
The 2002 GCR is available from SCCA and your local region.

For autocrossing, a roll cage is optional - as is a rollbar (unless you have a convertable). I wouldn't bother with a roll cage for autocross or track driving events - get a roll bar instead. I'm going to have a custom welded roll bar put in my EP integra soon - it's nearly stripped and ready for it.
he asked for an online place to find the rules for prepared in another thread, so my guess is E prepared. i don't think that class requires a cage, though i don't see why you wouldn't want one.

I don't think any autocross class requires a cage. Some Mod cars that are open do require rollbars however.
If you are trying to build an EP car do yourself a big favor and buy a rulebook. It is not uncommon for wrong information to be given on the internet. It would be really sad if you showed up at an event with an illegal car.

so you are also in the EP class? All I really want is a roll bar for safety reasons. I really did not want a full roll cage since I still want to drive my car on the streets.
Well I'm slowly building up my ex-daily driver integra to EP Class specs. Still a long ways to go until she'll be ready. The roll bar really becomes a necessity when you're going to use racing seats and race harness in place of the stock ones, plus I plan to run her on track driving events, and i wouldn't feel secure without a minimum of a roll bar.
No, she wouldn't be legal to run on the street -> no windshield wiper assembly, bumpers supports have been cut to remove weight, no front lights, no dash, no mirrors, and it's not registered....not to mention screw the emissions system, my racecar don't need no stinkn' emmissions system...
Most EP cars are not street legal...they are prepared exclusively for autocross and are not daily driveable for legal reasons. Street legal heavily modded cars are for the Street Prepared or Street Mod classes.
