Do you still bother with street races ?
I posted in Kill story forum but I thought I would get more views here .. If you need to delete this post please do
Ok guys on my way to work this week I have had to ... strange races .. 1st one driving down the road speed limit and this guy in the new altema (with the stock altezzas) comes flying past me I move over and let him go but we get stoped at a light he revs on me a couple times and not one to back down the light turns green we go I race 1st and 2nd gear pull about a fender infront then back off it ... call it a day and continue to work
the next day again on my way to work a guy pulls next to me at a light in a brand new (sticker still in the window) intrepid rolls down his window and asks
Him: "is that thing fast"
Me: "not really"
Him: "lets see"
Me: "ok"
Light turns and we go .. I pull about half a car infront and get off it again in 2nd gear.. He pulls past and gives
then takes off....
Question is do you guys still bother with these people or just ignore them ... I have an ego and I have a hard time backing down when somebody revs on me ... anyway just thought I would post see what people say

Street Racing = Unnessesary Risks
Im not saying I've never done anything, or stupider things, but the fact is that it is pretty stupid. I try not to.

Off season, but yea, I try. We take the races to a disclosed location, like a 2-lane in the middle of nowhere with huge shoulders. Everything is as safe as possible, but it will never be 100%... worth it imho.

Street racing is bad ..... i was in a very bad accident as some of you guys can remember last february ..... my good friend was also in a accident a few monthes ago, another friend in hawaii just rolled his silvia 5 times. To many uncontrolled variables ... not to mention other risks, families on the road, pedestrians, and hten there is the hassle of tickets, fines, and license suspensions....cars are a great HOBBY, but you need your vehicle to get to work or school, if you cant get those places you'll go hungry, get stuff reposessed, go broke, and then you wont even be able to afford your HOBBY, so check your priorities b4 you start thinkn your "Dom Torreto"

I hardly ever street race mainly due to the fact that no one ever revs on me for whatever reason. That's a good thing because my car is damn slow and i'd lose every single one, and losing sucks.
I hear you about the ego thing. I try to avoid breaking the law in any way, but if someone revs on me there is no way that I can back down, I dont care what I am racing, win or loose. Alot of times I will **** them off and take them out of the hole, then stop racing, and it kills the other driver that we didnt get to finish the race. "Man I could have taken you on top end....damn"

I don't bother....besides being unsafe, consider my location (IL). The street racing is pretty lame out here.
Some examples: Cops all over the place, you can't even eat a McD's burger in the parking lot without being hasseled about your car, morons doing burnouts in parking lots and next to your car, people who have to act hard and are looking for fights, spectators dangerously in the way, people who have bad taste and no idea what they are talking about.
I try to stick to my garage, my backroads, my close friends who at least work on their own cars.

If none of you guys street race, do you at least track race? If not then I don't get it why the hell do you fix up your cars? Sure we all care about "performance" but if thats the case then just buy a car thats faster from stock instead of putting on turbos and doing engine swaps. All the money you spend on your car could be put toward a monthly payment...

what do you guys consider street racing, just red light to red light in traffic or what?in tampa we find deserted roads and things like industrial parks, its great until the cops show up.some may flame me but oh well, not going to keep me from going.i know anyone from tampa who reads this will know what im talking about.pretty much the only people in danger are the ones racing, not much more danger than what they would be at a track, any kind of racing has a risk.
I like to race at redlights, when it clear in front of me.
I usually don't race at night time for fear of cops.
Racing on the highway =
Actually I got revved on by some ricer who I smoked a while back. I mean I beat the crap out of this guy, and he harassed me for 3 streets wanting to race.

The actual runs in San Diego are DEAD... to many cops, too many new laws, there's a whole division of the PD dedicated to street racers....
We get our cars impounded if caught watching street racing. Having aftermarket rims is PC for searching a vehicle, etc.
Nobody goes to the runs here anymore, but if someone revs on me, I don't back down. I still race around the hood.

I had a guy in a mecedes CLK 320 ask me to give him a taste and he was like 45-50 I was just like meh
(If your wondering he punished me
)
i do street race but only if it is real late and no one is on the road....i almost crashed not to long ago cuz i was walkin down this dude who was suppose to be the fastest around and the facker cut me off and we were doing 100mph easy(i am in germany if u try to flame)....damn i was pissed.......gotta know who u r racing too....

I occassionally street race...if the race is worth it. Like, I only race cars that I know are going to be good competition. I wouldn't waste my time on altezza'd Civics and **** like that. Usually i try not to street race, but sometimes i just get the urge and go for it! And anyone with a modified car (especially if its hybrid) says that they don't street race and never have, never will...probably lying. I am sure there are like 5% of them that are telling the truth, but admit it guys, everyone of us has had a race or two on the streets!

Once you and everyone like you decides its not worth the risks, then our image as import owners will get better.
So, now that you know, what are you going to do about it?
