on a D16y7

i see 7000 on some sites and on others i see 7800?

which one is it? i mean thats a big difference.

or does anyone have a pic of a 96+ civic gauge cluster?

7800 on a Y7? can't be if a y8 only goes to like 7200 at fuel cut-off. it's more around 7000.

 

yeah 7000 or 7200 is correct. not sure but only b series motors go past 7200 to about 8000 jdm b16, 8200 gsr and new b16's, 8400 for R motors

 

No i think they rev to 13500....

 

It's actually 6,900.

 

Find out by trial & error: nail the gas until you get to about 12k. Then if your engine self-destructs, you went too far

j/k- Actually, if I'm not mistaken my brother's 97 LX redlines at 6500 if I'm not mistaken. I don't drive his car too often though (too damn slow )

 

6900rpm should be the max of stock setting!

 

just a small correction, the b16 is actually 8200 for all years that i know of. the rev LIMIT is 8450~

 

are you sure about that kamin? my first gen b16a always cut out around 7900~8000max even with a timing gun. i was using a stock pr3 ecu and nothing was done to it? so why would it cut out 2k rpm short?

 

 

The "redline" on 96-97 del Sol VTECs and 99-00 Civic Sis was 8000....on earlier del Sol VTECs it was 8200. Those are tach numbers, though, nothing more.

Sorry about the shitty quality, just jacked the pic off Ebay... haha You were refering to the 96+ like EX cluster right. I dunno why anyone would want to see pics of the DX and since you didn't say 99+ I was assuming that you weren't talking about the Si...

another thing is are there any other gauges that i could put in my car with a 7K redline?

or like i konw the SI cluster has a yellow section before it turns red like is there anything like that?

 

aren't the LX DX and EX clusters the same?

my girl had a LX and it looked the same as that

 

DX doesn't even have a tach

 

the rev limiter or "fun limiter" is set for like 7,000

 

If you look closely on the gauge cluster the rev limiter is 6900. But the DX doesnt come with tach (Y7) and the EX does (Y8). The fuel cut off in my DX is around 7200-7300. It bounces around in there (i hate this engine hehe). I have a box of stock civic gauges, bezels, and faces, sitting right here next to me, so if you want a tach for your DX or LX I can sell you the stuff needed to add one. The only parts I dont have are the Fuel and temp gauge. I did the swap myself and it took only around 30 min. Rick
