which cams would be the most successful when achieving maximum WHP?

 

wondering the same thing. I have heard many different things. I am considering GSR cams. TURBOTYPER said he made 100+ more hp with the GSR cams...

turbotyper is the guy with the dyno numbers. That would be GSR cams in an ITR head...

 

u can sell ur itr cams to buy gsr cams w/ new valvetrain.
it has always performed better for turbo applications.

 

i wanna see dyno plot cuz that sounds like too much hp for that little change . and no i wouldnt slel my R cams, i can pick up GSR cams for prob close to nothing
what about b16 cams? i have a set of b16a2 cams sitting at my garage right now in a head thats never gonna get used.

my car made 434 whp & 264 torque with itr cams.it made 440 whp and 304 torque with gsr cams.the biggest difference was that at 6250rpm with the itr cams it was at about 300 hp.at 6250 with gsr cams it was at about 438-440hp.the car went from mid 12 second time slips to very traction limited high 11's instantly.i will post the dyno charts tommorow.

yeah but he is a real racer - with a decent motor able to make 900whp on meth - im just a little street ricer

honestly - i think you will be happy with either cam if you have R cams use them - if you have gsr's use them

if you dont have either - pickup some gsr cams - they are probably cheaper to get used and seem to make more power

Real racer or not, a motor's a motor. Even more so for a street car, go with the gsr's. The type R may make a few more up top but your powerband will be much better with the gsr's.

Wow, this is great. Thanks for the advice guys. I have a turbo b16 and was gonna get itr cams cuz i heard they make more power, but now i can get the gsr for even better power and save around $300!

 

GS-R cams are better for turbo the ITR cams have something to do with the overlap not so good GS-R performs better.

 

You want GSR cams, The ITR have too much lift and is more built for NA.

 

The stock itr cams can have the duration and lobe center altered in a manner they would be the best turbo cam you can get OEM. I am having a set of ctr cams modified to gsr duration specs to give the best of both worlds (lower duration, higher lift).

 

I know this is off the subject but i also heard that the CTR cams were better then the ITR cams cuz its got +2dregress on the ITRcams. something like that
