i had it for 3 weeks now, and i blew it. im powering diamond audio m6's, i was underpowering them with the ppi. the subs handle 800 rms i was only sending about 500 to them. i was thinking about stepping it up to the 2400 but ppi r peices of crap now. they sold their company to DEI. so now im in search of a new amp. i cant decide from orion hcca or xtrpro, hifonics, earthquake, kicker, arc audio, zapco or older ppi 21400. im open to suggestions, i wanna buy good stuff maybe even competition stuff like the orion, thanx
i just recently bought a competition orion amp and i'm really pleased with the output and sound quality of the product. so if i was you i would definately buy the orion if price is not an issue.

What M6s do you have D4 or D2? If you can find a Soundstream 10.2 they would power the D2s nicely. 25WX2 1000Wx1 into a 1 ohm load. stable to 1/4 ohm. I used one to power three JL 12w6s.

An Orion 275 won't give you this either. The benifit of these amps is when you run your speakers in parallel. You can get a 1 ohm load from the D4s.

yea i know i cant power them with the orion, i was gonna get the xtrpro. wut do u mean by run it parallel?? please explain, i think i might know wut ur talking about but i just dont know wut its called
http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/2-4-1.asp will show you how to wire your speakers for a one ohm load. Only do this if you have an amplifier that can handle it. An HCCA or a Soundstream 10.2 can do this.

This is the only reason I buy into the JL bandwagon.

Jus to finish the whole story, PPI, a/d/s/ AND Orion are all under the same Umbrella - adst. They were purchased by Directed. This has had no effect on the tech aspects of a PPI amp yet. But if you really feel that PPI's quality has suffered b/c of Directed's purchased (actually the opposite is true IMO), then why search for an Orion?

When JL Audio was an inhouse brand for a shop called "Speakerwarehouse" and they pretty much dominated IASCA over a decade ago, all they used were JL Audio drivers, PPI amps and MB Quart mids and highs.
You can't be at least slightly impressed by their subwoofer line and the innovative technology and design behind their drivers. The amps are designed by two well respected engineers and they share a lot of similarities with MB Quart mids and highs drivers..... whether you like them or not, MB Quarts will sound good and long as they are set up properly... in most applications they sound like ***. You can't deny the fact the JL XR are heavily influenced by MB Quart, not to mention the fact that the current president of JL Audio (Andy Oxenhorn) was once the president of MB Quart USA.
Hell, if JL Audio just a bandwagon product, I guess my boy wouldn't have built a car using all JL Audio to capture a 3rd place at the 2002 SBN in Daytona SQ, 601+.

Why not get it fixed? I'd be more worried to know how you blew the amp.
Wassup! Well let me recommend Zapco, they are competition amps and they are under rated, however they are pricey but they are the ****! I have a 100 WATT Zapco powering 2 12 inch JL W6's and the guys at circuit city thought I had like the JL 1/600 AMP and I started laughing and they looked shocked when they saw the zapco. My friend has PPI and has blown them like 4 times and finally decided to transfer to Zapco.

Yeah Zapco is Definately the only amps I use for my system there are a lot of other good companies, like you said Earthquake, Arc Audio and Orion, Just don't expect the price to be cheap..for a good one. At least if you spend the money now on a good amp you will not have to replace it.. My bro used to have a Zapco Z100 Like the one 00SL1 is talking about, he was using that amp to it's max for about 8 year and it never once had a problem.. They kick ***...
OH yeah , Zapco's are also known for there superb sound quality..

i decided to get arc audio. just picked up 2 of them, the 4150 for my speakers and 1500 for my subs. i also got an audio control HPX. sounds clean and hits hard. im very impressed by the outcome, much better than the ppi. i tried it b4 i put the audio control in and for sure the arc audio amps sound better
whats the problem with DEI. they own ppi, orion and viper audio.
i would reccomend the dei 1100d amp. itll run as low as 1 ohm and ive heard of it handeling 1/2 ohm but thats hersy. i have 3 dei compx 12's 3 dei 1100d amps one for each sub. i have switchs so i can run 1-3 subs and amps at a time. when all 3 hit my $1200 dollar sony headunit skips. i love dei.
