remove 96 headlights?
I was wondering how do i remove the headlights off a 96 accord? i tried to take the bumper off but their are screws that hold the bumper on that are under the head light and i cant get to them with a screw driver. Can someone help me? thanx
i dont know for sure ..... i did do it before but i cant remember the specifics. i started by taking the middle grille out(3 or 4 bolts) and then most of the screws/bolts holding the headlight are obvious(not all thou) i think there is at least one on each headlight that is hard to get to or something. sorry i cant member **** but at least i tried!
Use a panel popper to get the screws underneath the headlights out. Its a tight squeeze but you can do it. I never put mine back after I took them out. They are a pain in the butt.
if you want to see exactly what's holding the headlight in place you have to take the bumper off at least once:
take off the upper grill (5 or 6 screws and two push in clips behind it)
remove the two small bolts that hold the bumper cover to the front of the fender
remove the bolts holding the lower lip to the plastic splash guard
on the bottom of the bumper cover, remove all the little black push in clips (try not to break them).
take out the bumper lights (one screw for each, through holes in the side of the lower grill)
behind the bumper lights there are two 14 or 17 mm bolts on each side of a bracket with a large allen bolt with a bushing behind it. remove both hex head bolts (not the allen bolt) on each side of the bracket. they're hard to reach, but if you have a breaker bar, pivot it so it acts as a driver and twist them out.
pull it forward, and it should come off
as usual, install is the reverse
i suggest you also buy a manual, it makes it much easier.
