Offseason racing on your computer with FIA sportscars....

The incar Viper lap at Brands Hatch doesn't work when I try to view it, but i could see the Intro Video. Looks pretty good. Might be of interest to all the racers out there who are having competition withdrawls - so long as you have a decent computer, Electronic Arts F1 2002, and can download 280MB.

another option is Live for Speed. Its free (in beta stages), very realistic and playable online. Great game and a lot of fun. I played it fine on my p3 450 so it doesnt take a lot of power.

I have this GTR2002, got it last week, it is incredible in every way, very realistic, sounds, looks, drives wicked. Worth buying f12002 just to be able to download it.
SCGT was the title of the late '90s - it forever changed the simulation field as the most Moddable racing game ever created. SCGT straight from the box wasn't that special - but once the mod's started coming out they didn't stop and the number of real world modeled tracks available for SCGT is insane (there's even a 64 track patch out since SCGT can't recognize more than 64 tracks!)... I had a great time with the Panoz Esperante GTRs on the corrected road Atlanta track and the F40LM's were a blast at Spa Francorchamps.
My only problem is that I need to get a computer to run these programs...I'ts been a long time since I've played any racing sim with my PII 300mhz system with 112MB ram. I think it's about time to rebuild my broken "gaming" computer and get F1 2002...

what kind of controller are you guys using to play this game? I bought a Logitech force feedback wheel and it didn't work right. so I use the keyboard now

Honestly, was never impressed with SCGT physics model. It's arcadish and some elements are exagerated, like for example going two off at 100mph+ while going straight would immediately result in a spin. The faster cars are nothing more than slow cars in fast forward. Even with the fastest cars you could basically trail brake pedal to the metal almost trough the entire turn 1 at Limerock without even a hint of oversteer (just an example)...
LFS is a great game! The underpowered FWD physics are well done, although the chassis setup physics need some work... Awesome online competition!

I agree with you on SCGT, for the game straight out of the box. However once you get the updates and corrected .veh and track files it becomes better... and you can go straight off the grass at Lime Rock Park or Road Atlanta and then back on the curbing and then spin when you put too much power on or lock the brakes. The prototype cars are pretty cool too - Cadillac LMP 900's and Dallahra's were a hoot, along with the ferrari 333SP's and R&S Mark III's...
Whenever I last ran sims I used a Logitech Wingman Formula GP (non force-feedback).

You mean Rallisport Challenge from M$? I tried it...and I suck at handling dirt racing.
As for best racing game? I gotta say Need for Speed 5 - Porsche Unleashed. Though I'd like to try something new.

I'd also like some of the other cars, as well. How about some FWD IT cars?!?
Any good web sites to get this stuff from??
Im surprised Grand Prix Legends hasnt been mentioned. I havent played it, but it has a cult following and supposedly the most realistic racing/physics engine out there. The best part is you can download VIR and Summit Point for it! (along with just about every other track in the country)
anybody have f1 2002 and SCGT to share?

For SCGT stuff, check out SCGT Central....SCGT Central is "closed" but is still working - the links page has some dead links, which is frustrating because there was a lot of awesome programming done for SCGT. Go to the "Guide" button at the bottom and have everything you ever wanted to know about modding SCGT at your finger tips. Better yet save the .Zip version of that page, it's invaluable!
Back when I was running SCGT, There was a riced out 3RD gen integra GSR that I was messing around with - fiddling with the .veh files to get the handling more like my '90 Integra GS. I think I had it pretty sorted out and Racing at AArdvark Park ( a Club Racing type track) in it was awesome. I know there were a lot of Civic hatchbacks too...but I currently can't find any links. The TVR Tuscans for SCGT were fun too.
BTW, if you are a Porsche racing nut, and you want to "die and go to heaven" visit the following link for awesome SCGT "Porscheage".... PorBoy Racing....not to mention you can get the LeMans track there too...
P.S. Oh yeah, How about some Aussie V8's....hmmm.
Or Saleen S7's and Nissan R390's...
Don't forget the Japanese JGTC 500 series...
And that's just the tip of the iceberg for SCGT stuff....you can easily have over 1 GIGABYTE of stuff just for SCGT....
European Supertrucks anyone?
P.S.S. found a civic!...(scroll down)
And heeeerrrre's Bathurst (along with other tracks)....
