what kind of axles to get if i have a 98 hatch with 1st gen b16?
this past weekend i broke my axles at the track - i was wonderin what kind of axles i need to get to repace them - i need help fast cause i have no car right now...
should be able to use GS-R or ITR axles because they share the same half shaft setup and spline count as the SiR axles

do you have a napa or autozone, you could just trade in your broken ones and buy a new gsr one. new one = 140, trade = 60, therefore you only pay 80. have fun
The 1st gen b16a has a different intermediate shaft. They don't make the correct axles in the US. You'll have to make some hybrid axles (86-89 integra axle with a 90-93 inner CV joint) or buy some from raxles. If you have the 90-93 integra intermediate shaft, then you can use the 90-93 axles. If you have the 94-01 intermediate shaft, then you can use any 94-01 civic/integra axles, they are all the same. For the passenger side, you can use any b-series shaft, they will all fit.

Once i used a pair of 89 prelude b21 axles, and they fit. A little wider than the 90-93 teg axles.
so i cant just go buy like any 94-01 teg axle and it will work?? - i have to make a hybird axle?? - damnit this sucks - its going to be a pain...
i have no clue...i guess what ever will work with a 1st gen b16a swap in a 98 civic hatchback...if any of you guys know what that is...i have no clue - this is really going to be a pain - cant i modify it to fit?? the 94-01 gsr axle??
Well with the civic first gen intermediate shaft, you use prelude axles i think. With the integra first gen intermediate shaft, you can use integra 90-93 axles. With the 94+ intermediate shaft, you use 94+ integra axles.
to tell weather it is a civic or integra first gen, look at the # below the engine code. if it starts with 1 it is from a civic. if it starts with 5 then it is from an integra. Can someone verify this please

you could also just buy a new intermediate shaft and sell off the old one. If you go this rought, i would recomend one from an si or newer integra.
If a shop dropped in a first gen B16 into your car then most likely they used the DA 90-93 Integra's intermediate shaft and axles. From my experiance 92-and up B series axles are the same. Just take take off your old ones go to pep boys and tell them you need axles for a 94 Integra. The model of car does not matter only difference is a ring that goes around the boot for ABS which does not matter in your case. Those axles should work fine.
BTW I know this from experiance with my old hybrids. You will be ok bro.

94 integra huh - ok well do that - now i heard you can do this in like 1 hours with the right tools - i have air tools - and anything else i need - and i will be at my friends dads shop - what all do i have to take off to get the axle out of the tranny - and doesnt itjust pull out??
remove wheels
remove axle nut
remove lower ball joint
pull axles out of wheel bearings or spindles
pull axles out of IM or tranny
put new axles in and reverse the process
If you are doing it at a shop, you will have plenty of tools.

when you pull the axles, look at the driverside axle and see if it has male ends on it. if both ends are male, then the 94+ axles will not work.
if both ends are male, you would have to use the 90-93 integra axles or maybe even a prelude axle on the passenger side.
it depends on if you have the civic intermediate shaft or the integra one. Look at the link i posted earlier. You will notice that the civic IM is shorter, therfore requiring a longer axle
EDIT sorry the civic IM is the longer one, requiring a shorter axle
