Default turbo the D16Z6, or B18C1 swap?

one of my friends has a 94 del Sol Si and he has a B18C1 engine he wants to put in it, all he has is the engine, no tranny, or axles, or ECU, or anything, just the B18C1.... well, there is a guy locally that has a SOHC GReddy turbo kit, it has been passed around a few times, but has never even been put on a car.. my friend could probably pick it up for around $1000. anyways, since he got the engine fairly cheap, i told him he should sell the engine, make some money on it, then buy the turbo and put it on his SOHC. he'd end up cheaper, and i told hime with proper tuning, he should be able to push more than 7psi.... anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

Stick with the swap. A new greddy kit he should be able to buy for $1500 easily. It's not worth buying something used. However the Daily Driver Swap would be nice. Then hook up a Turbo... Just my personal for his situation since he already has the B18C in hand.

I think you should go for the turbo..........and sell me the motor for abouts $800. Ya know how common b18c1s are and all, they dont bring very high resale

Think long and hard about how fast you want to go and how much money you have. Then think long and hard about how long you are going to keep the car...

Those factors will give you a better answer then anyone on this board can.

This has been talked about in depth before. Do a search in this board and on the FI board.

Just tell him to wait and save up a bit more money for the swap....It will be worth it in the long run.....tell him good luck with whatever decision he makes.....

ANd if he sells the B18C1...let me know.....I'll give it a good home......

I would go b18 all the way. Because you could all go turbo later. More hp is always better.

When you say pieces, what exactly are you saying? Like block/head/valves/pistons/rods/wiring everything is apart?

I was wondering about this also, and the turbo just isnt worth the money.. Go with the swap. It lasts longer, and you can turbo it later if you want.

Well if he already has the motor, swap it, take the $1000 and get a trans w/a LSD... Sell the d-series swap for $400ish to a CRX'er.

I know you're not going to reply, but I have to ask... why do you say this? Let's see some meat on the table, here. Cut the bullshit and back what you say.
