4th gen civic hatchback + KYB AGX Shocks
Installing these AGX's to replace my Koni's is so frustrating. I have a 89 civic hb, with ground control adjustables and kyb agx shocks. If i lower the car more then 1", and if i hit a bump , even a little one, it will make this squeeking noise and its real loud. Loud enough for me to know something is wrong. Ive checked everything and i cant figure out what is wrong. I know KYB's work well if the car is not lower than 1.75"(correct me if im wrong) but why would it make these noises. I use to have koni yellow adjustables, and they worked well , but these AGX's is getting way too frustrating to me. Any ideas what is causing this noise? Im desperate for some help since i heard great reviews about these shocks.
P.S i am using gen 1 ground controls

To me it sounds like the spring isn't compressed enough when you lower the car more than 1", so the sleeve moves up and down.
Do you have the top hat screwed down low enough on the threaed strut piston???

blah i give up! i ordered some progress springs, and im going to slap them on to replace the gc's. besides these generation 1 gc's are hard to adjust. i like the way the gc's fit on the koni shocks. maybe thats what im going to use in the future. for now, these agx's are too damn new, and havent been really abused yet. awaiting my springs..
its funny you should say your having probs with the combo you were running. I have progress springs on my car and the front rides ok, but the back of the car is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to rough. When i go over a bump, it feels like the world is coming to an end. :-/ I am so pissed at these springs i want to go back to stock right now.
ok got the progress springs installed and an alignment done today. camber is way off, -3.7 on driver side, and -3.3 on passenger side. Just ordered a progress camber kit in hopes of achieving some better handling. Right now when im driving slow, the car handles like ****. Car andles great when im going fast(highway). this is probably because the camber being off too much. the ride is harsh, i have my agx's set at 3. i should set it to 2 since im always driving on some f'd up streets. i cant wait to peal some corners soon, but for now, ill take it slow.
