Default D15b

I just picked up a 87 crx si and was looking into doing an engine swap. I have heard that the zc motor was a direct bolt in, but I m sure that there is something wlse that will need to be done like axles or electrical. I am new to the import seen. Could someone clear that up for me. The other thing I was wonder about is a motor called D15b I saw it on some jdm engine swap place. They said it is a sohc vtec motor that makes 130 hp. If I am not mistaken that is the same size engine that is in there and the motor was only $500 and made the same power as a zc. Could I just use the stock trans and everything. What do you guys think about that engine. Thanks

Craig

Sorry for all the newbie questions...got to start somewhere!!

sorry to sound like a wannabee newbie slayer but try the search button. there should be a few threads about 84-87 civic/crx's. just look around first and read alot of posts. and don't mind some of the ppl here that'll give you a hard time.

also if i'm not mistaken you can squeeze a b16 into an 87 crx

I presently own a JDM d15b, it's a good engine, mine is in a 1991 civic dx.
pull really well, use a si tranny with it, the stock ferio tranny is a Dx, good for top speed but not that fast for 1/4 miles.
I sent you a pics,
here you go :

k here we go
search a lil bit...
but here we go
84-87 civic have totally diff engines from 88-91
the 87 u got does not contains a D15B engine.. sorry to bust ur bubble...
those cars are chassis code EA... engines are E coded....
u have a 12 valve SOHC engine 1.5L.....
if u wanna swap a ZC into a 3G civic u need to ifnd the right mounts and some other stuff... i am not really good into 3G chassis but i know its not a direct bolt on.. My cousin has a 3G DX and a Si... he has a ZC laying around and he couldnt fit that in there with stock mounts.. also wiring on that car its very primitive....anyways u will find some more info laying around
