Default Buying a new oil pump tomorrow...will a VTEC one be better?

My oil pump on my d16a6 took a **** on me and started leaking alot of oil through some crack i found, i am going to Honda to buy a new one....should i just get another D16a6 oil pump, or will a VTEC one from a d16z6/d16y8 be better for my car? Will a VTEC one be better?/bolt on?/ for my D16a6? Reason why I am asking is I've heard people putting DOHC VTEC oil pumps on their DOHC non-VTEC blocks, i was wondering if this applies the same for "D" series motors.
Feedback would be great.
