How much does a stock hood weigh? I searched and came up with nothing. I also dont have access to a decent scale. I am thinking about buying a fiberglass hood skin (pretty much auto-x car only) and need to know if it will be worth it. I seem to recall ~35lbs for CRX Si hood (with squirters, emblem, latch, and insulation pad). Should be the same for all the 88-91 Civic/CRX hoods...

Don't know about the x-member...

 

Id rather not take the stock bracing off. Fiberglass is still lighter than steel. I also plan to give the hood to a friend when/if I get a fiberglass one.

Wow. 35 lbs is a lot. Way more than I expected. I dont have the insulation pad so maybe mine is a little less.

Mine weighed 29 lbs off an 88 Si. Included the emblum but no windshield squirters. BFD.
