OK, i replaced my head gasket......I am now having problems.....
OK, i don't know if you remember me, i was the one who bought the 94 accord and it overheated a few days after and blew the head gasket.
I have finally gotten it fixed now. I had the head machined and my mechanic replaced the head gasket, the intake manifold gasket, the timing belt, the balancer belt, Water pump, the A/C belt, the Power Steering belt and all the seals.
I am having some concerns now though. My engine sounds very rough. it is not smooth as it should be, this happens when i am accelerating and i can hear the engine when i am coasting. I am also afraid to floor the gas pedal, because it sounds rough also. i am afraid i might damage the engine. does anyone have any similar experience when you changed the head gasket?... is this due to the "breaking In" period that it have to go through? i was also wondering if it could be due to the engine oil? i mistakenly put the wrong grade in it. i put in 20W-50. It is now in the nigh 28F~37F where i live. will this oil damage my engine? Should i try to change this oil asap? or can it go for a little while?
I need help......Thanks in advance

that weight motor oil is very heavy, I would go with a lower weight like 15w-30w
can you describe the rough noise with a little more detail? there are a lot of things that sound rough with my car and each is a seperate issue

I would change tha oil ASAP. That viscosity is way too thick to be using in cols weather. When you start the car, that is when the most engine wear occurs. You need 5 or 10w-30 in there for cold weather.
make 100% certain that the timing belt isn't off by 1 tooth
milling the head effects timing. I forget weather it advances or retards it but maybe somebody else can help remember.
and yeah, definately change the oil.

It sounds like a van engine. you can hear the engine, i would say that u can mildly hear the components in the engine moving.
could someone verify what happend to the timing when i resurface the engine head?

the oil u mentioned seems very thick and makes it harder for the internals to move efficiently, try switching to 5w-30 and see if its better. if not, send it back to the jackass mech. and have him make it right.

Change the oil ASAP. When you start your engine you are doing a lot of damage with oil that thick in cold weather. The oil is sitting in the pan and doesn't want to flow properly to coat the engine parts until it warms up. This means metal to metal wearing and rubbing together in your engine.
I am now hearing a rattleing sound at the bottom of my engine when the car just starts when it is cold....any ideas what that could be?
also, is there a "breaking in" period for me since i just changed my head gasket and had my engine head milled? what is normal of the "breaking in" period? is the rough feeling i get from the engine normal for the breaking in period?
My break also feels very soft....if i push it hard, it will go to the floor. what can i do to fix that?

ok dude... STOP driveing your car!! every time you start it is one step closer to a F@#$ up engine. Change the oil to 5 or 10W30 NOW!
this may make it run better unless your timeing is off of you have permanently dammaged your engine with that oil.
cheers

Also you increased compression, and if your ignition timing is too far advanced because your cam timing changed, you might be detonating if you are using less octane fuel.
Ok, i changed my oil now, and i notice significant improvement in the driving. it does not have as much compression when coasting and the engine feels lighter, than the heavy drag it had before. i am still hearing a slight rough sound in the engine though. the transmission chages a bit rough. the gear changes are not smooth as i think they should be. any ideas?
