the worth of underdrive pulley's
what is the consensus on average time improvements of an underdrive pulley in autocross? my opinion is that it isn't even enough to be noticed, since the ur pulley for my car only drops 12 oz or so. any other opinions? most specifically, is it worth $350? (i'm not interested in if it will blow up my motor or not)

I don't know about them Honda cars but on the SE-R, UD pullies are a god-send (Alanis-send?).
Frees up ~5whp.
Prevents water pump cavitation at high RPMs.

entirely useless unless you are fast and consistent enough to make use of it... i was at a point once where upgrading the car was more important than learning how to drive faster.

and you think 5hp is worth how much time on, say, a 60 second course??

nate-who is going to spend his $300 on something race kaa oriented, just not sure where

spend the money elsewhere. that's almost 2 race tires you can buy for $350
the other thing i'm looking at is improving the brakes. i'm on all stock components right now and pondering ss lines and carbotech pads. do you guys think improved braking will find more time then the u/p will?

but im not sure why youd have to pay so much, just shave off the ac pulley part and balance and put a larger aluminum alternator pulley.
I just made myself an aluminum alternator pulley in machine shop. That's the way to go.
But seriously, solo-x, if you're in stock class now (?), it's not worth reclassing just to run some pulleys. I'd save the money for when something more important comes along (like repairs) (or tires).

i broke 2 oil pump (OEM NEW) in 2 Weeks (result= 2 death bering) ... with UR crank pulley
because they don't have damper....so when you shift you have nothing to absorbe the shock of the belt on the crank/oil pump.. and the oil pump broke
my choice are CTR crank puley N1 Oem..

No, not worth it. I only got about 2 HP to the wheels with the Unorthodox Ultra SS. Then couple that with the possibility of extra wear and tear on the engine which equals a couple thousand bucks...I took them off. Wasn't worth it.

You ever felt the heft of the D series crank pulley? They are heavy *****.
You'll definitely see a few more than 1-2 HP if you install them. Plus, you can buy the one that just runs the alt. if you do not have power steering and a/c.
nate--I might have a D series crank pulley for sale if you are interested. IM me or something.
