hey guys i got a kenwood cd player for my moms 98 civic ex. it doesnt have a detachable face, so i dont want to install it where the radio is, but instead where the tape player is, by the cup holders so its hard to see for theives. Is there any way to install it here?

 

i would like to know this also. i want to relocate mine down there.

 

if i'm not mistakened, honda makes a kit where you can install the stock CD player where you're talkin bout.. get the kit, and it should work for an aftermark CD player.. one thing though, you might have to extend the wires from the top of the radio all the way down to where the new CD player will be.. hope this helps..

 

Yes you can install it there. I used to have a 98 civic and after getting my stereo stolen, I put an alpine deck down there. Holes lined up perfectly, so it was bolted down on both sides. It's kinda a pain in the butt when you have drinks though.

I sold that car a while ago..but I may have some pictures somewhere. I'll try looking after I get back home from school.

I just mounted my pioneer deck down below where the tape player was. The deck actually fit right in the slot below perfectly. The harness also reached down there so you do not have to extend the wires. I love having the cd player down there but i have one problem - i need to find a kit or a little pocket to fill the gaping whole in the climate cotrol panel....anyone know where i can get one?

 

yep he's right, i did the same thing and bolted right up. i discovered this by accident, i wanted to get rid of the tape deck and realized my pioneer can easily fit in there. now my only problem is finding something to cover up that hole. i have a friend that works at car toys, i'll find out.

 

thanx guys, so i have to get an adapter or something from honda? because i know the plug for the tape player is different than the one for the radio. any more tips on doing this would be great!!

and also if you put a cd player down there does it run through the radio. because my mom already isnt the greatest driver and i know she would have a hard time adjusting the volume and radio, and cd player down there.
