Default CD player install in 98 civic - HELP!

hey guys i got a kenwood cd player for my moms 98 civic ex. it doesnt have a detachable face, so i dont want to install it where the radio is, but instead where the tape player is, by the cup holders so its hard to see for theives. Is there any way to install it here?

thanx but that doesnt help with an aftermarket cd player because the plug is different on the OEM honda tape player. it look like i need an adapter or something

Yes get a Metra wire harness from any local stereo shop, Circuit City, or online at Crutchfield and it is EASY.

yes just go to your local circuit city and tell them you need a metra part number 80 1720 T. that way you can still keep the factory radio up top and still use the factory keyless entry. then remove the center console and remove the factory cassete player. then put the new deck in that hole and run the t harness side with just power to the factory deck and then the one with speaker line outs to the new deck. you may need to lengthen the wires maybe a foot longer so that it can reach with ease. also make sure that you keep the green plug connected into the factory radio.
trust me on this. i did the same thing on my 98 civic ex. and i also am an installer at circuit city. so i do this all the time. theres some help for you. if you have questions hit me up at evoteg325@aol.com
