Are you sure the 88 and 89 rails are different? I thought 88-89, and 90-91 were the same. And Civic and CRX had the exact same seats.
88 and 89 are different. the 88's have the seat belts mounted on the piller and the 89s have them mounted on the doors. so they changed the mounting positions for some reason to better suit that...
Crx seats are the same seats as the si seats but the rails do not align right. crx seats will not juss bolt up to si nor it will for si from crx.

NO, what you need to do is this. Take the rails and bottom metal buckets from the '88 seats and swap them over to your '89-'91 seats. You may use platic zip ties to tied down the bottom covers. Its somewhat alot of work, but everything else will work. I've done this to my existing '88 HF. I swap out a axle-back exhaust for a complete mint interior '91 Seats and interior panels. I decided to experiment and found this out through other members on this board.
Good luck, if you have any Q's, pm me

If you would put the civic seats in your crx what would you do for seatbelts? I have a 89 civic and had an 89 crx both si's at the same time. The civic has the seatbelts located on the floor wile my crx had them on the seat itself. I never really took notice as to wether or not they could be swaped and im not shure about the hf or its seatbelt location.. ps im selling my si seats if anyone wants them and is close to pa
My seat belts in my 89 rex are in the pillar strange. I am in the middle of a 90 Lude seat install on my rex. I actually have the driver side in in working condition but it still needs some work. I used the idea that was on the site you posted just went to home depot and got some stuff and went to work on it all. I am using the lude rail on the right at the moment and the stock on the left. This might change this weekend though. The seats are nice and comfy and for 25 bucks at the junk yard cant be beat.
the seat blets have nothing to do with it. you can take off the seat belt thing (the thing with the red 'push' button), i did that with the Prelude seats in my car.

I am almost 100% that all ED(hatchback) chassis are exactly the same (windows and unibody.) I am not sure though on swapping over from CRX. I just put 94 integra seats in my ED and the front two holes basically bolted up to the chassis. But the back requires some custom brackets to be made or bought. I say GO FOR IT and hope for the best. Just whatever you do don't give away your old seats until your know that the seats bolt up and are secure. Oh yeah and about the seatbelts. These should be the least of your problems. They all can be removed very easily.
Good Luck and happy wrenching! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emwink.gif" BORDER="0">
