Did you ust paint over the black or did you strip the stock black paint?? Also which paint or color red is that. I wanna do this to my motor.

thanks alot guys, Actually I got the info off of h-t on how to paint the valve cover. I forgot who it was from. But thanks alot
I left the cover black, just clean it real good w/ some solvent. I use HIGH HEAT RED paint from Dupli-color and also use HIGH HEAT GREY paint . You can get it at autozone or advance auto (any auto stores)
To paint it, I just feather or mist a red coat on the valve cover (light even coats)
and then let dry. And after that you do the same thing with the grey paint. Basically you repeat this steps over and over until you get the finish that you want.
I use more red paint than the grey one. I use a whole can of HIGH HEAT RED and only like a third of GREY PAINT. Maybe a lil too much but I didnt want the color to look uneven.

I just took the VC off, cleaned it really good, and painted it. No primer, just painted right over the black. I think it turned out pretty good. I painted over the Honda stuff, and just sanded the words down later.

for those ppl who doing it just remember to cover the wind shield too..coz
those clear coat do got all the way up there.

that looks good. *** spending $145 for an authentic ctr valve cover! i'm gonna do that first or polish it then sport it. i even bought a ZC hood so i can have a nice cover!! so what's the exact red you use?

****** For letters on the valve cover you can use any clear greese ,spred thin layer on them befor you spray (it saves you from haveing to sand)******
