what is the best d-series tranny? i have heard zc with si final drive, I also dont want to be driving around at 55mph and over 5,000 in 5th....and how much differant are the trannies...

Just rock a good ol' si tranny is has great ratios is geared towards speed. 
plus i'd like u to find me a d series trans that is at 5000k rpm at 55 mph that is complete and total bullshit buddy.

what are you planning on doing?????
Best tranny is the CRX Si.......
Going allout road racing, then ZC/Si
Road racing but still a daily driver.....CRX Si with ZC 3rd and 4th gearsets.
Good luck finding some ZC 3-5 gearsets, mine are NOT for sale!
