Default Front Speaker Wiring through door jam

My friend peeled back the rubber housing deal around the existing speaker wires going into the front doors of my 92 EX Sedan. It looks like there is a plug there so Honda could wire the door all up, (mirrors, windows, speakers) and then just "plug" it in to make everything work. I would like to run new speaker wire to my front speakers and was wondering if it's best to just drill a hole in the doors & door frame to do it (grommeted of course).

i know on mine, i just cut out the center of the plugs and ran the speaker wire through, but then again i only had speaker wires going into the door, don't know if you have more then that or not

if that is not an option, if there is enough room to drill a hole in the plastic bracket so you can still rumm the wire though the rubber sleave back into the car that would be best

good luck on getting through that molex plug.. on hondas they are a pain the F^$king ***.. you can drill through it or pull the currecnt speaker wires out and get new ones in there.. its not fun at all and takes a while..

*edit* reason there are soo many wires is cause you have power windows, mirros, locks, and speakers.. on a dx cx there is only speaker wire and its easier to get through

When I ran new speaker wire in my del Sol I cut open the sleeve and slid the wire through an opening I made in the connector and seeled it up with electrical tape. Kinda ghetto, but looks decent and works.

Pull the door off and it's cake. Trust me, you will save time and frustration, and it's a lot easier than you think.

yes it will.. i HAD to take my doors off so that i could run wires for my window control module for my alarm a couple months ago.. it was a lot easier and i ended up drilling new wholes in the door and car part and ran some good lookin wire loom instead of ****** w/ the plug!!

Just to let you know the way i did it was by taking the fender off and cutting a whole in the boot on the car side and by drilling a small hole just below the molex plug and then running the wire through the pipe and then through the grommet in the new hole i drilled. it works and you see no wire as long as you use as much of the existed boot that you can. i had to do this when i ran my window control module also.

I'm looking to run new wire in my 93 Cx. These plugs you have to cut out. How many are there? I should only have the OEM speaker wires to worry about. I'm going to remove the door panel and give this a try tommorrow.

You gotta search:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=215223

It should be very easy in a car without all the power accessories....and while it was difficult, I didn't have to remove a door or a fender...I'd prefer to not mess up the alignment - it just takes some patience.
