D16Z6 swap.
I'm getting ready to swap a b-series into my '92 cx. I have a D16Z6 in there right now, and a friend of mine has an 88 crx dx. The only problem is that the tranny is messed up. My question is.......will his dx tranny bolt up to the Z6, and if it will how well would it work? I think his tranny has about 200K miles on it, but it's never really been driven hard....don't know if that makes a difference or not. Anyways....thanks
The DX will work the only thing different between the Si and DX tranny is gearing I think the final drive and maybe 5th? Not sure? But they are the same.
But isnt the CX hydro tranny? The CRX tranny would be cable so if yours is Hydro it would be a PITA to swap them.

You can use any 88-91 tranny in this swap, CX-STD, DX, HF, or SI. All will have different Gear ratios, HF would have the longest and SI the shortest. The STD is only a 4 speed. DX and SI gears ratios are the same but final drive is different.

He has a bone stock DX.....i have a Z6 in my car with everything for it to run right in my 92 cx....the tranny has a hole in the trans case. BTW it's a 95 Ex motor with 67-67k miles how much should i sell it to him for?

not saying you will.. but you might runn into some problems with the axle fitments.. we had to change the passanger side axle in my friends 88dx so he could use a 89 si tranny.. if you do have this problem make sure you replace the tranny seals .. just a heads up ... like i said you might not even runn into any problems.. good luck ..
thanks for the input
i figure that since it is using the same tranny we could just bolt the tranny to the engine, bolt it all in, wire it and run it.

You can use his stock tranny. It would be harder to try and use the hydro tranny. Just make sure use use the correct clutch and flywheel for the year tranny you are using. Some people will tell you that an 88 tranny won't bolt up but that is not true the 88 tranny I had bolted up without a problem. While you have the engine out it would be a good idea to change the water pump and timing belt. I put on all new belt and gaskets when I had my the motor out. Trust me it's worth the time!Good luck
