Ebay ecm chip for pm6-c00 thoughts, experiences, concerns opinions
Has anyone bought and installed a performance ecm "Chip" on ebay. Are they really "mugen-spec or spoon-spec". That sounds kind of far fetched for a mere $20. THoughts concerns and horror stories much appriciated.
they usually just cut off the rev limiter and don't control the fuel, but its worthless if you don't have the air to mix with all that fuel, stoic mixtures net the best gains
i wouldn't count on it, i doubt they're even set up for any induction systems, just when people hear more fuel they think ohh its got to be better because gas is what gives the engine its power, but not so (air and fuel, one is useless without the other). You should ask to see some dyno sheets and ask exactly whats wrong and ask for a comparsion between this new chip and stock fuel maps and such

so It would probably be worth my time and money to get something a little more "tuner-friendly" like a vafc or a field vtec controller. I want to get as close to stoich as my pocket book allows if ya know what I mean.
I think I will go that route now that I thiink about it!

if you know how to work with some of the hometuning software avaliable,a nd have a wideband, it may be worth your time. Alot of the chips are tuned, but they ere tuned for different specific setups.

yes the chips are tuned for a type of setup, all chips are...most of the chips on ebay are copies of mugen/spoon/jun...its not hard to burn chips, and some are modded chips , i got a chip off there and im very happy, it wasnt one of the trendy ones that have like 10 on each page ...but it was a burned chip of a jun chip...it was modified a bit too, but i had to do a little tunning to get max performace but it was well worth 20$

Thanks for the input. I will go with the apexi vafc first then look into chips once my engine bay becomes a little more serious.
