High Idle on fresh ls/vtec motor, heeelp!
Would a small 1/2", thin chip off the outer edge of my crank pully cause a high idle, and the ckf code to appear? I was thinking that it is making the rotating assembly unbalanced but the chip is very small and id say only about 15grams of metal. I also am getting a very high idle at around 3k rmps when starting up for the first time. I havent messed with the ignition timing
btw this is an ls/vtec setup, 91ls block w/ 00'si head.

What car??? If OBD2 did you slap a 96+ oil pump on and wire up the CKFS correctly??? I wouldn't expect that a little chip out of the crank pulley could unbalance the rotating assembly enough so that the CKFS could see it... Your main caps would have to be pretty loose for that that happen... More info please
This is on a 96 Integra OBD-II, i used a type-r oil pump, and im pretty positive i wired the ckf correctly. So far when i start the car up the tach jumps and sticks at 3k rmps. Everything seems to be connected correctly. Throttle plate is closed, unable to find any vacuum leaks, and when i disconnect the IAC valve it surges between 1,000 and 1,500 rmps. I still have my stock ls computer installed but the motor should run fine with it.
Hmm..... Is your FITV leaking any air in at all??? What happens if you cover the throttle body with your hand, can you hear any leaks??? Check your coolant level... If your idle surges up and down when your IAC is disconnected then I would voltmeter your TPS signal so see that it is at .45 volts with the throttle closed.... I still don't get how come your CKFS isn't working correctly.... I would double check your wiring if you are getting a code... Lemme know if you find anything else out... Good Luck
Well I fixed the CKFS, one of the wires got frayed so that takes care of that. It is still idling at 3k and im only throwing code 6 and thats because the clip is messed up. The FITV doesnt seem to be leaking and i will check my voltage shortly. Any other ideas?
my friend had this problem yesterday w/ a GSR swapped crx, his iacv was broken but u couldnt see it unless u got under the car. All I can think of right now
