i asked the man over the phone (and am going to look at it on monday) and he said and i quote " the little round knobbie chord thingies are in the middle of the top of the engine".. and i verified "sir, it's not on the direct top or bottom?" and he said , no im sure, it's in the middle of two bumps So, im thinking DOHC baby...i read that it was the only Del-Sol Worthy of being called by the CRX Lable.. as the delsol's after the crx were half assed

del sols are the heaviest civic platform, swaps are cheaper than buying a whole new car. i would just do the swap.

There are a couple things to consider when debating the CRX vs. the Del sol. First, think about wheight. After that, you will definately want to consider the weight. And then there's the infamous wieght issue....

Seriously though, if you don't have love for the CRX, and can't see it's many benifits over a Del Sol, then you don't deserve to own it and should sell it to someone who will love it.

Seriously though, the guy wants $5200 for the car. this means i'd have to take out a loan in order to buy the car, and pay Full insurance until the loan is payed off.. im debating weather or not it's worth it all. i was supposed to take a look at it on Monday after school but now my dad cant help me take a look at it.. he said he's too buisy with work.. and that blows.. cause i work the rest of the week, and by then it'll be gone. (i'd go see it myself but i dont know manual yet and want to learn really bad)

Just chau, how much do you want with the SI and how is the condition? i have a little problem with some rust and i dont feel like dealing with any. My only other option is to drop $2,000 into this car and stick on a bodykit and fix the rust and give it new paint... imean, i could prolly save 500 and not buy a body kit, but i cant find any cool lip spoilers. anyhow,

CRX-RX: i love the STYLE of the car, the handleing and such, but if i can find a mint condition manual crx (91-95) i'd probably sell in a heartbeat. hell, if i can be fixed up with a manual, i'd be happy as can be, even happier than a del sol.

(im trying to fit this all in one post because i only get 5 a night) until i become un noobified. anyhow... thanx for the advice everyone

That's not the issue monkey nuts.
i see we have a friendly person on our hands!!! thanks for calling me a ***, dipwad.....

del sols weights are as follows:
S: 2200 lbs. or so
Si: 2300 lbs or so
VTEC: 2450 lbs or so..

OH BOY!!! rear disk brakes? really!!! wowze!! those do NOTHING but add weight to a car like this!!!!

hey, atleast my "best jdm option ever" actually DOES something, instead of some gay-*** lights.. duhhhh.

example of trans-top on this page:

Keep the crx and swap it, im in the same situation you're in except i already got full suspension, im just waiting on the swap now. I have driven a del sol before and IMO its not as fin to drive as the crx. and del sols are also ugly IMO.

get the del sol.

a few years down the road you wont loose half your investment when u go to sell. you'll save yourself many headaches if you try to do the swap yourself, or money if you pay a shop to do it all, and you'll end up with a much nicer car.

if speed is what you're after then sell your DX for an Si and stick with EF's..

I think $5200 isnt bad for a DOHC Del Sol. Id say go for it. You can have the reliablility of a stock DOHC VTEC.

1. Girls like del sol's. If you have a del sol (even though its the girls honda) I'd bet that at least once, your car will get you a date with a girl

2. B-16 swap ( http://www.tellap.com/productpricing.html front clip) will come to about 2k.
2a. Rear disk conversion about 300
2b. Del sol seats about 300
2c. Tach or new cluster 100-200
2d. Suspension 500
2e. Exhaust 250 (custom from cheap shop)
2f. Mount kit 500

= About 4k to have an EF thats like a dohc Sol.

And staying with the EF will make you a certified wrench turner, and will give you a good understanding of hondas.

Now. You still have 1200 left if you choose the EF over the sol.

ITR cams 350
Ctr pistons 380
Header 350

There are some options for you. Take into consideration that the Del Sol is stock, and probably wont give you a hassle for another 60K.

-Jake

Id have to say get the del sol. My g/f has one and i love it. If you go to the track you can take out the thing that holds the top in the trunk and the spare tire and **** and youve got over 100lbs outta there. They are fun cars to drive...they have very good handling and braking characteristics thanks to the ALMOST perfect weight distribution and 4 wheel brakes. And for the goob that said that 4 wheel braes do nothing for this car obviously doesnt drive alot because i love them.

Sorry to see you go to the https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=1 forum if you buy a Del Sol. That car is ok but I would just do a swap like everyone said. The CRX is a much better car in my opinion, But remember it's not what they want, It is what you want. If you like the Del Sol better, GO FOR IT

In what way? In comparing the CRX and the del Sol on the "cheaply made" issue, I would definitely say the CRX is. I've owned both...

5200 is cheap. i sold mine for 5200 and it had 120k on it. they are HEAVY. and 15.5-16.0 qtr mile times come with them. its a fun as hell car cause of smal wheelbase, and the top is a bonus. i still miss the wail of VTEC all aorund me with the top off
but now i have the wail of VTEC echoing in my gutted hatch
