Muffler question..
i hear and kind of feel some sort of muffler air leakage from the middle of my accord. like you can hear the put put from the middle. anyone have any idea's what the problem is, if its a do it yourself type of job ? and how much would it run me to get it fixed.
I had the same problem and it seemed like a do it yourselfer except that the bolts were rusted solid. So I bought the stock muffler from manchesterhonda and had it shipped and then tried to take the old one off and when I couldn't took it to a shop they charged like 30 bucks to put it on for me. Somehow they even used the old bolts and nuts...
Here what i did when I think I have an air leak.
jack the car up and have the gas padel press down half way
by using an auto club thingie.
just kind use my hands to "test" it..dont touch it of course.
BTW i just have my header welded(now is a one piece header
)
since the bolt kept of losing grab on me..
not bad for 30 bucks

i had the same situation on my previous car. The leak made very loud noises, so i had the open part welded. Got it done for 20 bucks at a local muffler shop. I think the best way to fix your prob is welding, unless leakage is caused by a loose bolt or something.
my whole pipe from test pipe back is rusted through. on my way to class the muffler straight broke off the pipe completely. this was no suprise because i had been quicksteeling it for years. when i went to midas they only wanted to sell me a complete ghetto system for 350$ !!!!!!! i told them to keep it and as i was leaving they called me back and said they would weld it for 20$.... go figure
