anyone know how to get more power in third gear with a ZC motor?

ya maybe exhaust and header will help, all i have is iceman cold air intake and 88 teg ecu, im using the L3 SI tranny. Im just wondering cause i can take most hondas around here but some that have DOHC VTEC motors can pull on me in third, i am just wondering whats up with that gear.

I always get raped in 3rd gear by B16's in a CRX or hatch. I got the Si tanny ang 89 Teg ECU also.

The easiest way to get more power in third gear is simple... Get a new third gear! That's what I'll be doing when there's no more snow on the ground.

 

im runnin a zc tranny, and i seem to have enough power in third. i dont even have my vtec hooked up yet so i dont have the MaD vTeC pOwA yO!

Well, chances are unless you do some good mods, you will always lose in third gear to B16's. That's where they really shine. My D16Y8 CRX would stick with B16 CRX's up until third, then they'd pull away.

 

try doing the zc/si hybrid tranny...

 

i have a custom final drive 4.55 great from the street for the Si sohc cable trans. any one hardcore interested in it. its in a trans right now. good working one. let me know.

i've always felt the zc (d16a9) 3rd gear was pretty woeful, especially compared to a b16. it's not so bad at the drag strip where you're starting from a standing start, but on the road it's embarassing

my solution was nitrous - but hopefully going down the increased FD route in the not too distant future

haha i was just waiting for that. My third gear is good, i used the si tranny

 

same here, when i was at the track, i could take out the b16 civic/crx in 1st and 2nd, but when 3rd comes, they say bye to me.
