MOUNTING AMP UNDER PASS SEAT????
does anyone have pictures of their amps mounted under their seat?
I have a Punch 40x2 older style amp I will be installing this weekend and wanted to know if there is adequate room for cooling and space to mount the amp...
Also can i secure it with velcro to the carpet or DOES it have to be on a board.

i had a 400a4 under my passengers seat and it was fine. at first we just screwed it into the floor, but my car got broken into and when i replaced it, we just put it under there without anything holding it in place, it did fine tho. the only thing to remember is if you have floor mats, put them down and put the edge underneath the amp...youll understand what i mean when you go to do it

i have a small older pioneer amp under the passanger seat but i guess i dont have it far enough under there cause it seems like it barely fits. I have a punch 40 as well and i didnt think i could fit it under there at all but maybe i dont have mine up under there far enough. Good luck.
because if you dont put the edge under the amp, after you mount it, chances are youre gonna have to fold the edge up and it looks funny, and blocks air from circulating around the amp as much. i guess it depends on how far in the mats go and how much space your amp takes up.
I have a Kenwood 2x60 W under my passenger seat and an MTX 4 channel under the drivers. Both are no more than 2-1/8" high and they barely clear. I added a little room under each seat using the BFH (big ******* hammer) method. I secured them directly to the floorboards using self tapping stainless steel screws and i haven't had any problems with overheating at all. (i did spray some undercoating material on the screws from bellow to prevent any leaks)
So yes, assuming the amp isn't too high it will fit just fine. Real stealth (which is a plus in my hood). If you ever decide to install an amp under the drivers seat be VERY VERY VERY CAREFULL not to drive a screw or drill bit through the fuel lines which run under that side of the car.
I'll see if i can post a picture

if you are allready at bare metal you can always take a rotary tool and file the paint off and self-tap a screw directly. Or prehaps a large ring terminal to the seat bolt. if not might have to run the ground under the carpet to the center console where there are a few great ground spots, i have an amp grounded in there.
there should be enough room under there as for cooling fosgates have pretty good heat sinks so it shouldn't overheat but just in case you can rig like a computer fan under there to cool it down more
I attached my ground on a bolt directly on the metal of the remote fuel release assembly..I remove the plastic cover off of it and attached the ground to one of the bolts there...Works pretty good and is close to the amp.
I had one of those little motor home fans on my amp. It was mounted behind the rear seat, in front of the box. It was a 99 Phoenix Gold XS 2500.
It pounded though.
I had the same amp underneath my drivers seat and it never overheated once.
