100 watts regular blubs can not even be compared to HID. What are you talking about?

mine are just as bright man, they got a slightly different look, but they are pretty dam bright. and a $600 HID kit + $200 Bulbs, doesnt sound as good as $20 upgrade bulbs, that do say"Offrad Use ONLY, Not to be used as a replacement bulb for highway use"

I hope this is a joke. Your 100watt bulbs do not compare. Given they are brighter, illigal, much hotter, and extremely glary; They still do not compare to real HID. EDIT: something else, your $20 bulbs that burn out quickly cannot atlast a $100 bulb that will last longer than the life of your car. Should I keep going?

i'm not saying they are better, by the way HID bulbs have about a 2000-3000 hr life and halogen have about 1000 hr life, but the price and labor are what i'm looking at. And almost all those HID upgrades are illegal too, except for 1, and i cant remember the name. But if I did change I would go with the McCulloch brand and use Hiper bulbs that have a purple tint they do look awesome. Or you can do whats been going on around here, people been buying the kits, then stealing the bulbs out of BMWs and such. The 1 drawback I dont like though is the single beam(no high beam) of most of the kits. I was just saying though, the cost and labor comparison, is my main point. But i got to say, my 91 Lude Si, looks sweet with pure white Toucan 100watt fog lamps and the APC sealed beam conversion kit with Toucan 100 watt pure white bulb, The toucans are way better then APCs if any one cares and generally 10 bucks cheaper, peace dude.

geez man, how could you say your 100w Rice bulb is brighter or even bright as real HID? I guess you never took the time to think about the difference between Filament Halogen and Arc Discharge. Even with that.. how could you say you have to spend 600 dollars on a "Kit" and then have to buy bulbs? a kit is what it is.. Ballasts and Bulbs which go around for 450 on the market now. Not 600 dollars for just ballasts and you have to Steal bulbs.. rice

i'm not condoning stealing bulbs, it was something on the news thats been happening around here. and if you get a kit with bul;bs for that price, hell yeah, i just havent seen any that cheap, and they are illegal, just like my 'rice' bulbs, but whats the chances of getting pulled over, i'm not worrying. get some for your self to see how bright they are. it is an alternative, at a lower price and they really **** people off when u get behind them on the highway. still havent heard a reply on the single beam draw back of HID and their legality. and i still want to see where they last longer then the life of the car

no.1 i already have HID on my prelude
no.2 ive had HID on my 3rd Gen maxima
no.3 i got my kit for 490 shipped

so yes the price on the kits can go as low as 450, they are much better than rice bulbs.. b/c ive owned and still have every rice bulb on the market such as, Hyper Industry, Piaa, APC, Nokya and no name brands, they are all crap made in korea.. they offer no better than stock other than they give you that "blue" look. They offer TERRIBLE Vision in the rain, TERRIBLE vision on roads with black pavement. The blue coating on the bulbs take away the light thats suppost to be on the road.
I even had Upgraded wire harness along with Higher watt bulbs and the light output is the same as using stock wiring.
My HID on my prelude are total opposite of those of higher watt "blue" bulbs.

And as for the single beam draw back.. why would there be a single beam draw back? All you are replacing is the low beam bulb.. that means you still have your High beam (stock) bulb. Like any other Factory car with HID they have a Low beam HID and Halogen High beam

So that means the halogen high beam is brighter. and my bulbs are not blue, they are white. and they look fine on black top and rain, and way better then stock. i didnt know your prelude had two bulbs in it, i thought it was 1 bulb that was a 2 way. so if you replace that 1 bulb how do you have a hid bulb and a halogen bulb. my bulbs dont have a blue coating.

oright man, i think your a little bit confused about automotive lighting, The High Beam Halogen bulb is not brighter it just goes farther than the low beam HID, b/c of a wonderful thing called Optics. in reality the low beam is putting out more light output (measured in lumens) not Degrees Kelvin which is the Color of light and has nothing to do with "brightness". The Low beam HID could act as a HIGH beam if you tilted the Optic , weather that be the projector or the refractor casing.

And i think you didnt realize that i have a 5th gen lude, which has Two H1 bulbs one for low beam and one for HIgh, 4th gens have two bulbs as well one 9006 and one 9005.

but on your car HID wouldnt be feasible since you have the old head lamp setup with a single bulb two filament.

your right, i dont have but 1 bulb, so it wouldnt work well for me, and i didnt know 5th gen had 2 bulbs i still thought they had 1, i have a 3rd gen, so i have those 'rice' bulbs for head lamps and fog lamps and its pretty dam bright, peace
