97 Accord SE engine options, not necessarlily for performance
Guys, I know I should search more than I did, but I don't know enough about accords to relate the different years with the different generations, etc.
My buddy just got screwed by an oil change place, he ended up running out of oil and the motor is probably seized. It is an automatic, 97 SE. I'm trying to help him in case he gets cut a check or is forced to fix this out of his own pocket. Keep in mind that this guy loves hondas to death, but is by no means a performance enthusiast.
My questions:
-What is the stock engine code?
-What engines (if any) are bolt-in replacements (and cost of the replacement)?
-Will the automatic tranny hold the power?
-What, in your opinion, is the most cost effective fix?
Thanks guys, my friend will appreciate this.

h22a fits, h23a1 fits, f22xx fits, F22b DOHC fits (seach will help)
no. auto trannies like dying with bigger engines.
Swap it out for the stock f22b2. Save money. Buy another car to go fast with.
Thanks for the info. He doesn't want to go fast, I'm trying to watch his back on what happens. I'm just wondering, because sometimes a more performance engine may be cheaper because the supply is high. I thought it may be hard to find the stock replacement, unless someone is getting rid of theirs for something bigger/better.
