Yeah, the Type R in Austrailia and the Type S here are pretty much the same car... just different badges.
methink the Japanese likes to keep the best for themselves.

its 140lbs lighter, has recaro SRD's, momo wheel, LSD, JDM gearing, no sun roof, no cruise control, JDM body kit, different interior (upholstry, and consoles), titanium ****, titanium pedals, and oh yeah, different badges.
And it costs US$3k less than what you pay for your 'rsx'.
Same car? If it makes you feel better..
Fool.
No worries mate - sorry If I come across hating but it annoys the **** out of me to hear comments like that.
Honda NZ, and OZ, as far as I can tell, blames it on a ready supply of high octane gas. Japan runs on 98 and 100 RON I believe, which is what the car really needs to run healthly. In NZ, we get 92, 96 and 98 - and not every cirt has 98 - which the car needs to be safe.
So, Honda can't really turn down potential sales because Joe Farmers local pump only has 92, so they just compromise. And besides, theres enough of a demand to do so.

Damn it !!
They should import both types of Type Rs....
Coz the only gas I use is Optimax, which is 98 RON.
Hey MAC!
Do you know the main difference between Our Rs and JDM Rs ?
Power output difference ?
thanx again mate!

Yes and therein lies the problem. RON is Research Octane Number - a world wide standard for Gas octane ratings I believe. In the US you guys have 87, 91 and 92 Octane (which is not the same as RON) gas I think....
The difference between the JDM and OZ spec R are as follows
JDM has larger throttle body and larger intake runners
JDM has higer compression, 11.5:1 (vs 11:1) pistons
JDM has different intake and exhaust cams
JDM has different feul maps. We can remap our k20a2 ECU to run JDM
JDM has a larger diameter Header
JDM has a larger diameter Exhaust (.25")
JDM Has SatNav system, we get CD
JDM has alluminium Lower suspension arms on Front
JDM Uses 22mm sway bars front and rear (we have 19mm)
JDM has Brembo Brakes (we have s2k brakes)
JDM has 17" light weight alloys
JDM has different speedo (to 180km\h and type r label) and Tacho (redline at 8400)
Thats about it - 20hp difference. I'd sure as hell pay 10k extra to get those goodies. I'll just settle for the lowered JDM version DC5 hidden in a garage 400 meters from me, oh yeah, and my car
I'll get pics later I guess
