First of all, here's some background on the car- it has a B16 swap and over the summer I replaced the plugs (NGK), the wires (Magnacor...and yes they stay on the cap), the cap and rotor and the battery. I did these things because I kept having starting trouble, and ever since I did this tune-up, it's been starting fine--until now.

As I was pulling into my parking spot Tuesday night, the car just died on me. Since then it won't start. When I turn the key, it turns over and acts as though it were going to start, but doesn't...almost like it were out of gas. Speaking of gas, I had just filled up before I came home (station was 2 miles away) and I let it get pretty low. I think there was only about 1/2 gallon left in the tank, since I put 10.4 gallons in.

I checked all the plug connections on both ends and they're nice and tight, and everything else seems fine electrically. I suspect something fuel related, but I'm not sure what?

Turn on your ignition and check to see if you can hear your fuel pump start up. Or maybe a fuse? Or it could be your main relay. Have you checked for spark? Maybe your coli went bad? Check and make sure piece by piece then its easier to narrow down.

did you checl sparks? could be the coil??

 

timing belt?

 

can you hear the fuel pump? mine did the same thing before my swap, it ended up being the igniter......

 

Some newb questions for you guys-

Can you tell me what to listen for when I'm listening for the fuel pump?

How do I check for spark? And where's the main relay located?

Well all you do is listen for it to like click on if you hear it you will know what I mean. (you know where the fuel pump is right?) stick your head by it turn on ignition. As for checking spark there are a million ways to do it but most common ways is to have another person with you pull out the plug keep it in the wire and put it near ground and see if there is spark CAUTION DO NOT TOUCH IT WHILE TURNING OVER YOULL GET A HELL OF A SHOCK!! Otherwise there are thing that you can buy that goes inbetween the spark plug and wire with a bulb in it and it will light up if theres spark. As for the main relay its on the drivers side up above where the fuse box is very much a pain to get to.
