Help! Fuel service bolt snapped half of it is stuck in the fuel rail!
I was changing the fuel filter on my car today and everything seemed to go fine. I put the service bolt in and torqued it to specs or so i thought. I start driving to college and smell gas like crazy i get out to look at it gas is leaking out of the top so i get a wench to try and tighten it thinking it was loose and it pulled right off when i touched it. How do i get the half of the bolt out i don't think i can drill it out because it could form a spark and blow me up. What can i do?
The concentration of fuel vapor in an open engine compartment would be far to low to cause a fire especially if you put a fan blowing across the engine compartment while you're doing it. "IF" you can get past the vapors you can extinguish a match in a bucket of gasoline. I wouldn't try it though

Mine broke when I put the b&m bolt on. It was made of brass and broke when torqued to spec. It took a while to remove the broken piece but luckily a small piece was sticking out so I could clamp it. That this costs $50 to replace as they have to heat it to get it to seal properly.
i got the bolt out the next day it was snowing so i figured i would ask on here before freezing my *** off. i got the old bolt out fine there was enough sticking out that i could unscrew it with plyers it took awhile but it worked i got the new bolt and put it in now my car takes longer to start it will act like it wants to start for a few seconds then it will. i do not understand how this could be wouldnt any air in the system be driven out because of the pressure? anyone have any idea what could cause this? Sorry for taking so long to respond first my computer died and now i am in mexico city visiting my brother. thanks for the help everyone
